Thanks SC, I did think about as I know transport is provided to some schools that but as he is only 4 I don't think I would like anyone else taking him to school every day.
Speaking to the school today about getting a statement as the IEP runs out next month. Will go from there really. I think it beter to be prepared for when he goes FT in September, I put it off as I was worried that I'd have to start all over again if they did have to change schools but I thought thaat I can faff around about it forever until this damn situation is sorted so I am getting it done now. I think that yes, the school is the main thing that is really worrying me right now if I am honest, the housing I can deal with really, I am ready for that and I know that will only be temporary, the upheaval from school I am not.
I had a lot of problems with DD as she was fine all through nursery and then when she started reception from day 2 she was making herself sick in registration to get off school and it has been a real struggle to get her in - only now 6 months on are we at a place where she is happy for me to leave her at the door most mornings. She has a teacher and classroom assisstant that shows her in, she is happy to go in if she knows the children there, so I have had problems with her as well and the school have been good with dealing with both my kids - I am not a problem at all I promise, LOL. I felt like I was in that office every day at once stage!! Considering it was the same school I used to go and the same office we were sent when we misbehaved at school it is kind of weird standing in there with the head and not feeling like a naughty schoolgirl!! LOL!! But yes, moving and the hostel if need be I am ready for (I think) but the school changes not so, I don't think i want to be at the place I was in September/October time when I had problems with both the children going to school.
Toto, LOL, ah so you know what I mean then, that's cool. We could all sort out meeting up somewhere over Easter if you want, I don't have time to get anywhere short of local at the moment as I am still on doing 3 school runs between 9 and 3, I don't really go anywhere other than to the local shop. You lot with kids at school all day are so lucky!! I am counting down until September!!
Yes, one day at a time. Taking Ryan swimming again today, fingers crossed he will get in this time instead of sitting on the edge crying for an hour!! I need to get him past his fear of getting in the water, he went in the sea in the summer so it is not that, more the noise of the pool building I think. We shall see. I have his ear protectors but don't want to damage them in the water and he won't wear ear plugs. Well, time to get some more packing done while the kids are at school.
Thanks for the shoulder0 -
It must be a bit of a relief to finally be getting a date! My advice is to call the basic council number (not an extension) and ask the receptionist to put you through to the homeless dept. Tell them you've been waiting for them to contact you and that the people you have been dealing with thus far haven't been giving you the information you need. The homeless dept were far more helpful for us than everyone else at the council put together!!
I know with homeless applications you're expected to take whatever they offer you (or else, lol) and you are expected to transfer your little'uns to the closest school but you would think there would be something they can do for your exceptional circumstances. The homless dept will be able to give you any info on this. At the end of the day, your sons wellbeing and happiness rely on a steady routine- they have to acknowledge this.
Try not to let it get you down, BM xx0 -
Hi blue,
You know I'm in Hertfordshire too, so if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Hey guys, just to show you howe crazy the housing system is. I have not been telling the nieghbours what is happening unless they specifically ask, of course, people are noticing the house for sale in the paper now and everyone knows.
I have found out this morning and that guy over the road - straight over and 2 doors up - has been trying to get a smaller house as he is on his own, in his 50's, no wife or kids, but the council won't move him. I assumed that his parents had bought the house as he has been there for as long as my family has (34 years) but it is still council.
He is in a 3 bedroom house!!
I also know of a woman who has been begging the council to move her to a smaller house as her husband had a stroke and could not cope with the size of the house they were in. They were in a 3 bed too. The coun cil refused to move them.
I also found out a couple of new HA houses are going to be built in the village and they are going to be 2 bed places as well. They have not built any 3 bed places in the last 10 years, they have all been 2 bed places (I think these will be the 8th in 10 years) despite selling all the 3 bedroom places off.
I suppose at least if we get a 2 bedroom place we know he wants an exchange. it's madness that they keep people in housing they don't want to be in as it is too big for them when there are people like us who need it, isn't it?0 -
Ooooh, more exciting is that we have just this monute received a letter as the council now runs Home Options Choice Based Lettings.
Fingers crossed guys!! Our points are quite high but not high enough to be considered at the moment (onl being in a hostel/caravan is enough to get you housed). We have extra points for Ryan and because of our tennature, 40 more than other people would usually have so this might be a start for us. I'll let you know how it goes.
I am so excited.
Ooh, I forgot to add as I relaised something else after my last post. Alongside the 'requirements' and it says on there that we can bid on 3 bedroom properties. A huge weight off as I think that I as going to end up with DD in with us if we could only have 2 beds and intially that is all they said we could have. As I said before I sent a letter asking if they could consider us for 3 bedrooms and gave the reasons (Ryans aggression) so it goes to show that if you ask and explain sometimes they listen to you.0 -
brill news on being able to bid on 3bed places BM x0

BM I really feel for you. I guess having the date for court is something of a relief, but all the other stuff it is so hard on all the family. How is your OH taking all of this?
Best of luck with the coming weeks.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
