Hey Hol,
I am holding you to that!! I think it is better to think on the positive than the negative - unless I have reason to of courseHol, I am surprised knowing who your local party & MP are tbh, LOL!!
Tiglet, I think it was just sheer co-incidence as it came through with some other gumph (DFS or something), just funny how it came through today and was all about the stuff I had put in the email. Spooky. Someone said the karmic boomerang was going to smack me in the face. Who knows, maybe it is a start.0 -
Hi BM
Hope you MP can help (I helped out a MP surgery and you usually get an appointment of about 20 mins to chat to him privately)
Have you talked to your borough councillor or county councillor? They may be able to help as housing is a local issue so it may be worth having a chat - you can get their contact details from the council websites. I am having loads of problems getting a suitable special school for my daughter and have found my county councillor really been helpful and supportive.0 -
Hi TM,
No we had not actually spoken to anyone yet - I did send an email to our local constituent as he dealt with housing but I never heard anything, I did however suddenly hear from the nominations officer - still not sure why, but never heard anything else and have t tell them when we have a court date. That is all. We shall see if this makes a difference. More than anything I want to ask why they expect it to run to court cases when the people who can't afford to rent private, can't afford to for a reason and the council is putting them further into debt.
My friends got one through their doors in the village next door yesterday so this was just co-incience after all. We have just 2 special schools in the area now - there was one just down the road from us a few years ago but it has houses on it now. The others are each one side of the district so 10 miles one way or 10 miles the other. At the moment, because most of my son;s day is revolved around play it has not been a problem, however, the teacher told me that they know how to deal with him so he does not have an episode and usually it means he is left to play on the PC as then there are no fights in getting things done around him. I kind of feel tht maybe this is not resolving the issue as come f/t school he will not be able to do this. He bit another little girl today as well (first time in ages) but I am just motified as she calls me and the parent of the child that he has bitten and tells us together - what the hell am I supposed to say. I want to speak to the MP about what to do as I want to get DS statmented and it needs to be at the same school he is at, you can't change it until after he has the statement. We are going to be out in 10-12 weeks so don't know if he will stay at this school to start it. Hard to know what to do with the right thing.
Started filling out the DLA forms today. I am on page 9 and it has taken me 90 minutes so far. I put it down in the end and thought I would do some more tomorrow and Sunday. My arms are aching from all the writing, LOL!!0 -
Hi BM
I hated doing the DLA form - you feel like you are saying the same thing on every page.
Sorry to hear about Ryan biting - a bit wrong to tell you together - she shouldn't have told the other mum who it was who bit her daughter. Hope its just a one off.
I think councils make it hard to get help so eventually you get so fed up you either give up or manage to sort something out yourself. They should be helping you not to accrue more debt and it seems wrong that you'll be left to pay the court costs. It could be worth contacting a few councillors - do it by email so you send one to a few! if they don't reply you could contact the opposition party and they will be trying to get votes before the next elections! If the housing department has councillors asking about you they may be a bit more helpful - not sure whether its true in housing but in other departments those who make the most noise get the most help.
Have you spoken to your special educational needs department at the council about the statement? They have to get reports from doctors etc so they may be able to be tranfersable if he starts a new school. You should also have a parent partnership or family liason service (the SEN department should be able to give you details of this) they can advise you and help you find a new school if you need to. Hopefully you won't and you will be able to find somewhere to rent locally.
Good luck with the MP - he sounds good if he has an interest in kids with special needs. Good idea taking Ryan - write down what you want to ask the MP do incase its hard to talk and then you don't forget to ask something (something I always do and remember on the way home!)0 -

Hmmmm, no he seems to do it all the time, this is about the 4th time he has bitten this little girl. I have an appointment the Wednesday back after half term, his teacher was leaving in March (she was covering Maternity Leave) but I found out this week she was staying until July which was a relief as Ryan likes her. She has already spoken to his teacher for next year as well so they seem to have it sussed. I am speaking to them about the statement at the same time as the meeting. I had to go to the hospital yesterday and as an afterthought popped into child health and came out with loads of gumpf and info so loads of people to call, I have so many things to do it is hard to know where to start but I can't really use the phone while here on my own with Ryan as he gets avery aggressive and nasty if I am doing stuff other than giving him my full attention!! The lady gave me two numbers, one of which was the Special Needs Halth Visitor for the area so I will try and get that done next week.
Thanks for the tip on writing things down, that is a good idea and yes, if I don;t get any joy from the MP I'll just email everyone else.
BIL called tonight and was downright nasty in all honesty, no-one has called since this started (november) and asked what had been happening or how we are. Anyway, BIL called about something else and told DH 'you won't get anything, you'll be in a hostel, don't expect to get housed will you as you won't get it' he could not even have it in him to be more positive 'good luck and all that'. Let's just said said person is living in a council house (that his gf had when they met), is working and declaring less than he actually earns and gets everything under the sun benefits wise including mobility so a 'free' car paid for - he is the one I was talking about getting everything. And he has the audacity to sit and judge us like that!! I actually said to my husband afterwards '!!!!!! does he think he is?!' kicking us when we are down. Families, just goes to show you actually don't need them!0 -
When you have filled out the DLA forms make sure you take a photocopy of all the pages. That way when you have to fill it out again for a review it won't be so daunting as you can use the older one for reference. Good luck with everything and ignore those who say otherwise.Credit Card Debt

Hi BM
My DD is the same when I use the phone - I have to text or email everybody on the sly!0 -
We had the same problems with unhelpful family members too. In the end i refused to see most of them until after we got housed and even now i feel a bit resentful being 'nice' to them!! How is it some people land on their feet no matter what situation they get themselves into?? I always seem to land on my bum!!
BTW- we didn't win the euro last night0 -
Me neither!
