there's some serious debts there. I was just wondering how did you rack them up - are you a shopoholic - or have you been using them to just get by.
  • Thanks Micron - you;re an inspiration :-)

No easy answer: 3 times divorced - first husband was an alcoholic and used to knock me about - when I left him it cost me £15k to divorce him and I left with nothing and had to start again. Got back on my feet and got a house, but probably had about 15k of loans and card debt from doing up the house. 2nd husband was useless with money; self employed - couldn't pay his tax and vat - guess who did... when I left him he took half of everything. Started again - this time with more debt from starting again and 2nd divorce bill. Stupidly married a real wrong-un - took me for everything I had and left me with £17k of his debt before he did a runner. Buried my head in the sand for a year and debt escalated from 40 to 60 k.
All my own work I guess for being so naive and stupid...
  • My fella had to sell his beloved Ducati when we first moved in together.

We used to love going for a zoom about but at the time he had about 15k in debt and had gone from paying his parents about £50 a week board to moving into my houseshare will proper grown-up bills.

Now he has almost halved his debts and we have a house together.

Once he's debt free and we've got the house sorted he can look at getting another bike.

PS so I just wanted to say, there is life after bike, so to speak!

Have had a good day today as have done some positive things:
Spoken to the mortgage company to go from repayment onto interest only - saving £285 per month!
Arranged an IVA interview for Monday
Asked everyone I can think of to ask everyone they can think of about having horse on loan or part share
Taken decision to SORN bike until the summer and then reassess if I need to sell it
Booked 2 more pampered chef bookings
    Found 2 more piano pupils
Got a pay rise of £65 per month
Am going to go through every room in the house this weekend and fill boxes of stuff to sell on ebay

    Feel much better already :-)

Wow, some big steps forward, well done. This should really take the pressure off and help you see the way forward.

I was really sad to read of your triple bad luck with men. Really hope you meet a good 'un next time.
