Just spent half an hour baring my soul in a post in an attempt to get some help from out there... went to post it and lost it all...
Can't face doing it all again.
need help deciding whether to sell house or keep it
Debt £57000
CCCS not much help
currently making pro-rata payments to 9 creditors totalling £199 per month
house worth £125000 mortgage £107000
CCCS say IVA prob no good...
In 3 months the pro-rata cool-off is going to end an everyone will want paying again
Barclaycard (Mercers debt agency) pounding door, phoning, talking to me like i;m something they stepped in
can't sleep... am so tired from working so many hours to try and survive
No family, parents dead, no siblings, no kids
3 divorces
Current boyfried says although is "door is always open" that he doesn;t want me live with him! Hurtful
What do I do?
Sell and never get back on the housing market (am 43)
Or wait until they eventually put a charge on my property and I can;'t sell and no doubt be forced into bankruptcy and lose everything anyway.. tried to get CAB appointment but never answer phone
Am close to desperation...

i'm very sorry to hear your having such a touch time
first off, are any debts secured against your house?
second, is there an option of selling for a smaller place? so you still have a house but you will also have a smaller mortgage0 -
Sorry you are feeling so low.
There are ways out of this, but it does require some positivity which is probably so hard for you to muster at the moment, so lets get practical first.
Hard facts here - even if you sold the house - you will only have enough funds to pay off half the debts. Without seeing the full story, its hard to suggest whether this is worth doing.
If you spoke to CCCS they no doubt asked you to list out your income and outgoings, including aprs, total owed to each creditor, etc? If so, can you post them up on here and the good folk on here can offer their advice on areas for you to focus upon cutting back in order to make the situation better.
You say you are working all hours - what do you do for a living?
Ref Mercers. There are ways of dealing with them and requesting that they only contact you via letter to stop them phoning - worst case, change your phone number.
It sounds like you have been trying to deal with the problems, but the worst thing to do though is run away.
Post up your statement of affairs here to take the first step.
Good luck
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi there, thanks for writing back
No debts secured against house
But house is really small, only option would be to buy in a more down market area (council type areas) - could get one there for around £100k but would it be worth it given the cost of moving? And, don't think if I tried now would be given any mortgage as have no credit rating.
Just made me think tho, maybe I should change my mortgage to interest only? Do you have to go through credit scoring to do that with current lender? Would I lose my fixed rate? Would that make me better or worse off? Why am I so thick and not know the answer to any of these questions - oh for a father or older brother that could advise me...0 -
Hi magicsgirl, you've said that an IVA is probably no good, have you thought about a DMP? Another good place to start is http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk , there is a wealth of information and advice on this site too. I was in the dark place that you are in a the mo, I turned to Payplan, who have been fantastic. After a couple of months the phonecalls stopped and the threatening letters too. I no longer dread opening my post. I just wish I had done it earlier.

            Hi Angela
How do I post up SOA? Can you add attachements? Or do I have to type it all in?
I work full time as Office Manager and also teach piano part time and also work for the Pampered Chef selling kitchen products
Could change phone number but won;t that just mean they visit the house more? That's even worse...0 -
You are not thick, don't tell yourself things like that. You are obviously stronger than you think because you are trying to deal with this.
CCCS said an IVA wasn't possible but did you speak to them about this only or some sort of DMP?
As has been said post up your SOA and the people here will do what they can, don't try and do this all alone, there are people that can help but sometimes it takes a little while to get hold of the right people.0 -
Hi Magicsgirl, welcome to the board, try and repost a SoA for the brainy people on here to help you with, they're very clever and will help.
Theres loads of help and support on here, try and stay strong.

            Hi CatsEyes
Thanks for your support
Are PayPlan a company that charge for helping?
Will have a look at the other website for debt helpline later when not at work
I was really hoping an IVA was my way out but CCCS said prob not.. the websites that talk about them say if you have £200 month to spare and debts more than £20000 then it is the way to go...
Is a DMP where you pay money to someone and they pay creditors? CCCS seemed to think that I didn;t have enough spare money in the kitty to even do that...0 -
