Hi eco..
Thats the question... do I do that and say blinking heck to it all...
or try and ride the storm and deal with it sensibly...
Sometimes it can be lonely to be edgey and say what the heck when all your friends are living in big houses, husband, kids, nice car...sensible budget...
From my perspective, whatever everyone else has is 100% irrelevent, unless of course you are small-minded enough (& I'm not saying you are) to give a sh*t about material stuff..... the stress from debt would probably knock years off your already short & HIGHLY VALUABLE life.0 -
Hi Michelle, sorry I couldn't respond sooner - I am at work so have to use the forum sparingly!
Sounds like others have been busy posting anyway in my absence.
As others have suggested, a DMP sounds like your best route here. I am amazed CCCS didn't suggest this to you.
You petrol is very high - presumably because of your part time work(?). I would sit down and work out whether it is financially worthwhile doing all these hours if you are paying out so much in petrol. It might be worth you restricting it to a certain area as petrol is getting more and more expensive.
Looking at your outgoings - I total it at £1852. This would leave you with approximately £100 extra minimum per month. I recommend you keep a spending diary to see where your pennies are going as its a real eye opener and allows you to really see the true costs and help you reduce outgoings.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi magicsgirl
I haven't got any advice but just wanted to send good wishes. There is no debt problem that can't be solved, and you will get lots of good advice and support on here.
Your mobile bill does seem high. I do PAYG and rarely use £10 in a month. I agree with those that have said think hard if you need both a car and a motorbike. Does the pampered chef cover the costs of the car and more? If not, perhaps let both go. Could you get more piano pupils? Eg advertise in local schools' newsletters?
Best of luck with itTotal debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Thanks Eco
You make a very valid point!
Am going to sleep on it... maybe should sell the house rent somewhere and go bankrupt...might at least sleep better and have sooo much less guilt everytime I have to put £4 of fuel in the car or buy food shopping..0 -
Will do a diary, thanks0
