Hi magicsgirl, could you sacrifice either your car or your motorbike? Paying one lot of road tax and insurance would be a start. What about your mobile, could you change tarrif for a cheaper monthly bill?0

We're not trying to judge you, just trying to make suggestions. Is all the debt in your name or in joint names?0

Car not worth anything but need it to do pampered chef - can;t get kit for shows on bike
Bike is only luxury I have - what I do when everything else is pants and I need to escape...also not worth much money
Debt all in my name - tried chasing missing husband thru solicitor - he told me I was wasting my money as he was self employed, working for cash and refused to pay back any of the £17000 debt I moved from his cards on to mine to stop him going bankrupt when we were married...0 -
You say the debt has increased by 5k since you started with the CCCS, so are you already on a DMP with them or have you agreed lower payments with your creditors yourself?0

magicsgirl, re the car and motorbike, if the car needs work (I can't tell from your post if it's drivable or not...) maybe decalre it SORN until it's fixed and keep it of road? That way you won't need to renew the Road Tax on it, or insure it. We did that with Hubbies car while we were waiting to sell it and it's really easy.
That way you've still got your bike running to use too?
**EDIT: Just spotted you need the car for Pampered Chef... what about switching that to declaring the bike as SORN for now until the finances are a bit easier?April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
I don't want to be seen as judging you, but from your SOA the bike is not the only luxury you have. You also have your horse, your dog and your car. If you say you need the car for a job, then the bike has to go. You pay over £300 a month on these 4 things and this doesn't include road tax / repairs.
I understand your love for your pets, and IA was not suggesting your horse be shot, merely that it is a huge expense that you simply cannot afford at the moment.odi et amo0 -
Hi hon
If its food just for you then you should be able to get it under £100 a month - check out the old style board and grocery challenge for advice/inspiration.
Get rid of the mobile if you can - if you really need one, get a prepay and just use it v sparingly.
Is the income from the 'pampered chef' worth the expense of a car. A heap probably swallows alot come mot time, then theres petrol, insurance etc.
I understand your point of view regarding your pets - they're part of your family and have been for a long time, and we wouldnt ask someone who had children to get rid because of their expense. It sounds to me like you are lonely and your dog and your bike are keeping you from hitting rock bottom. Still, you cant manage your debts on your incomings - thats a fact so something needs to be done asap to stop this from spiraling further. In my opinion, if you need the car then the bike has to go. Or if you can give up pampered chef and keep the bike. I'd dearly love a car for when its driving with rain and I have to trudge the kids up to school, or when I'm lugging heavy bags of shopping- but we simply cant justify the expense. As much as I could say I 'need' one, I've managed for years without one because I've had to.
Sorry, I cant offer advice re bankruptcy, DMP etc as I dont have experience in that area. I'd give one of the recommended agencies a call and see what they suggest.
Just wanted to offer you a 'hug' it sounds like you could do with one.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Magicsgirl,
I also have horses, and I know what it's like. Your insurance seems to be a bit high, I've just had a look on E&L insurance for mature horses (over 15) and the cheapest they do is £7.90 a month. That includes vet's fees of up to £750 (£250 per incident) as well as the usual stuff and public liability. Have a shop around online and you might be able to find an even cheaper premium.0 -
its a pro-rata payment suggested by CCCS but not a DMP0

Thanks for the hug Roxie... really appreciate it
Will sit down again with the budget and try and cut somewhere - food is for me and the lodger - part of the deal I have to feed her
Good idea on the mobile0
