............and as we all know Fund Managers are like GODS, geez I even heard of one once who beat his index one year

I dont think emerging market trackers make any sense tho.

Incidentally I might let you into a little secret. The US/UK and European economies are basket cases for the longterm while the world's economic power is inexorably shifting to Chindia and the BRICS. But I will exempt you from me charging you a huge fee just this once for this knowledge.

.... but it would make sense to me to switch your China, India and Russia funds to Allianz BRIC where the fund manager uses his judgement to allocate to Brazil, Russia, India and China. Allianz BRIC would be slightly lower risk than your China, India and Russia funds.
I dont feel this quite correct as your suggestions has pro's and con's.

I would think that if you have suitable portfolio it might be beneficial yto have speperate funds rather than a general one (in this case across four regions) as the manager can have absolute focus on the one area, fundamentals, politics, etc, etc. Obviously the downside is they cannot switch between regions but they can always go to cash and hopefully they would be more aware of the local situation.

Still horses for corses and all that.

    I'm sure many would disagree.

If you believe the US is / will be a basket case for the longterm then Brazil is not where you want to be; the majority of their growth is driven by the US whereas we are not quite so sure that China and India are driven by the US (lots of internal infrastructure projects etc).

OP had a few grand in China and a few hundred in Russia and India - apart from anything it seems to make sense to distribute between them more equally.

OK then show me chapter and verse about emerging market trackers and in the unlikely case of you proving your point i will eat my hat.

Russia and Brazil are largely resource engines that feed China and India. The Brazil stock market (BOVESPA) has way overperformed the DOW last year. I make it a 44% gain last year for the BOVESPA

We may as well all give up now then

What the 'doom and gloomers' seem to conveniently overlook is that if the US,UK and Europe are all about to collapse into a heap of bankruptcy then making a few grand investing elsewhere won't do any of them any good of their own economy doesn't exist anymore.............of course they could always emigrate to China and get a job in a 'sweatshop' for 60p a week ;)
