Acne

Quinoderm is another one containing 10% benzoyl peroxide which is cheaper than the Oxy or Clearasil equivalents, I can't remember the price so I'm not sure how it compares with Panoxyl.
Poundland also had Clearasil facial cleanser recently, I think it's called Total Control oe something, which I find quite good.0 -

I am well over 18 and whilst it costs me the prescrition charge the medication is the best you can get. It's taken me 3 differnt visits over the past year and I am now nearly acne free, no more scarring and my skin is the best condition it's been in years. The peroxide you are talking about was ok for me in the short term but it really dried my skin out.
I currently have a topical lotion that its not too harse and doing a brill job..h
Any chance you could give me the name of it for my son when I take himn to the GP?0 -

Freederm is more suitable for inflammed acne, ie largish spots. The active ingredient is an anti-inflammatory.
Benzyl Peroxide (eg Panoxyl) is more useful for reducing/eradicating blackheads and helping greasy skin. It's very useful in puberty.
Panoxyl should be started at its lowest strength (2.5%) then increased to 5%. Initially the skin may appear a bit red, but the skin usually gets used to the benzyl peroxide allowing you to increase to the 5% after the tube of 2.5% is used. It is also imporant to wash hands after applying and to sleep on white bed sheets, as the cream/gel bleaches coloured fabric.0 -

I watched the diet doctors a couple of week ago and the woman on there had the same thing.
But with an overhaul of her diet it made it almost go away.
Here is a link
