cravings

I remember a friend from college, when she was pregnant, craved the smell of nail varnish. She said she never left the house without nail varnish in her pockets. She smelled it all the time.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

apple flavoured/scented car windscreen washing fluid.....could not get enough of the smell. had a very clean windscreen.
also fruit/malt loaf with garlic cheese spread and german salami, as a sandwich.
husband was not allowed to make coffee at home for 1 year...starbucks did a roaring trade.
doughnuts, especially when the baby was laying down lard in the last few weeks
raw green cabbage, even had to make special trips to 24 hour shops for it
strawberry juice....only shop bought, stuff made at home was not the same0 -
I was mad on cheese & all things cheesey when pregnant, I ate a block each day without fail at my desk (200g) & just loved Wotsits, cheese crackers, cheese sandwich biscuits etc. My poor little girl is lactose intollerant & they seem to be suggesting avoiding dairy products in the last trimester now to avoid this. The last month I went mental for chocolate. I also used to love veg foo young, chips & curry sauce-don't think I've had it since.
I really went off garlic bread until I was about 8 months gone-weird as we used to eat it 2 or 3 times a week until I fell pregnant.0 -

Ah now that's interesting, i was into fruit with my 1st one and he's fine, 2nd one i craved cheese and yogurts and i ate TONS. 2nd one is lactose intollerant too. No-one else in the family has any kind of dairy allergy0 -
I drank a lot of strawberry flavoured water near the end as Irn Bru gave me too much heartburn. I also used to get cravings for Scampi and chips, it was always late at night, and again homemade wasn't the same, it was just the way the salt and vinegar made it taste from the chippy, couldn't recreate the taste at home.
If we visit the chippy, scampi and chips is the boys' favourite. They can't have sweet things as it affects their skin and causes asthma, among other things. Although they have little sips of strawberry water/irn bru. They've never tried fresh peaches/nectarines due to the effect it would have on their health problems but I'm sure they would both raid the kitchen for them. Their favourite homemade meal is chilli.
Has anyone resisted their cravings due to health reasons etc. Like with certain cheeses, you shouldn't eat them during pregnancy due to health reasons because of the bacteria in some of the unpasteurized ones.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
yes, had to resist goats' cheese until i'd stopped breastfeeding. i even dreamt about the stuff....my mother in law managed to find me some pasterised hard goats cheese, but it was horrible....i wanted the soft stuff with listeria and all0

i'm such a bad mother, i ate brie 3 times before i read about not being able to eat it during pregnancy, i had honestly forgotten and i didn't eat it after i realised it wasn't allowed. as for fish that might be filled with mercury, they say you're allowed it once a week so i'm not overdosing on that. i've also eaten liver, etc. but not more than once a week.
i've always had stomach problems, eczema etc. when having dairy - i can tolerate some but not too much. my husband eats cheese and yoghurt every day and i keep eating it too, i shouldn't. it was the same in my first pregnancy, i ate a 'normal' amount of dairy instead of almost avoiding it. my son is milk intolerant, lots of my family are. all the children suffer at easter lol! my brother had soya milk as a baby, he couldn't tolerate formula at all. that was before they started putting calcium in, so his bones are rubbish. i haven't heard about avoiding dairy in the third trimester - i will avoid it from now on, but i only have 3 weeks to go.52% tight0 -

hubby is so fed up of fajitas now I have to make them just for me! I made them today so I can have them for my next couple of lunches - they are strangely nice cold!
I always seem quite partial to liver sausage, but never indulge! It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0 -

Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
