Someone posted a wanted for a winning lottery ticket today. Could give it a good home.

There was a smily at the end so I really don't think they were serious.

We get the usual laptop wanteds etc, but as I have said in a previous post laptops are not necessarily high value items anymore. It does annoy me how some people ask for stuff.

The word 'Please' doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary.

On the subject of resellers, we had one woman ask for items to sell at car boots. My immediate thought was 'at least she is honest'. I personally wouldn't have minded giving to her if I had stuff to give, but I had nothing of that nature.

I have replied to a number of wanted ads where I can fulfill their needs. I have also posted wanted ads as well. The latest was for a cooker for some friends of ours who don't currently have internet access. I received a very nice reply from a gent who was in the process of replacing his electric freestanding with a fitted gas hob/fan assisted oven. I passed the details onto our friends who were grateful and as far as I know arranged to collect.

I'll need to check if they've got it so that I can do the appropriate thank you e mail.

No 1 for me by a long way is the Boot sale and EBay sellers who NEVER declare themself. I just hate being taken for a mug by these liars.

How do you find out that it has been sold on? I would never know from just having had something collected

How bizarre! I know some people given away stuff rrather than be bothered with the hassle of advertising in the press/ebay etc but that is crazy. Must be either a joke or that's one cranky partner when he gets home.

Either that or a very bad divorce and they'd rather give it away than given them half :(

You mentioning about giving things away , thinking folk are getting divorced etc happened on our local freecycle.A woman actually gave all her good stuff away rather than let hubby have it - she explained all this in her posting. She got hundreds of replies also offers of friendship and advice.

It must be horrible to be in that situation. Very heartwarming to hear the positive response she got.
  • I noticed on my local one that one of the Wanted ads was someone advertising to everyone that they 'really wanted the albums' someone else had listed by posting and appeal under 'wanted' on the main board. Struck me as wither someone having way to much to drink and deciding to get overly emotional about needing some albums, or someone who was a bit crass.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

    Hi all,

I appreciate your frustrations and can only suggest that you maybe voice them in your Freecycle's chat section? A lot of them have them and it gets it off your chest in a relevant arena, and I know that moderators often read them too.

I collected some books off a lady yesterday. She's even added some more she had found hanging around. We were also having a bit of a moan about the list of wanteds for laptops, Wii's etc.

We also moaned about no-shows. The original receiver of the books had twice failed to show so she was really pleased I turned up when I siad I would.

Mind you - I offered a "used only once" scanner to a girl who needed one for her college project. She comes past the end of my road 4 days a week on her way to and from college and even if she is on the bus, the stop is at the end of my road too! She has my mobile number and everything but has failed to show, even to say she has got one from someone else!!

Right - must put a wanted ad up. Quite fancy a new painting. Wonder if anyone has an LS Lowrie they are fed up of looking at :rotfl:

Question re using freecycle-If you post an item for sale, where do you look to find if you have any responses?Stupid question but i realy dont know.Ps i do have a yahoo email
  • Recently offered some wooden kitchen stools - had 2 no shows - car just broke down one of them rang to say (oh yeah?!). Other woman said she might be able to pick them up "on their way round from collecting other stuff" - couldn't believe her cheek. Anyway, she never showed so readvertised and another lady came and took them in the end and I think she was genuine but who knows? Gone off the idea of it all a bit -seems that the people who used to do the rounds of the charity shops to carboot or Ebay have found a newer more lucrative source.
  • i must admit that this very morning i posted an ad for a laptop!! but i did post an ad for a broken laptop that somebody was looking to get rid of as my little boy is obsessed with our laptop bnut is only 8 months old and is a bit of a button masher so i thought if he had his own that he can bash at it would keep him amused.
i would never place a wanted ad for something as expensive as a working laptop or games console. lots of people on our freecycle seem to place ads for ps2's, laminate flooring etc. plus i would never not turn up.
