Just wanted to clarify wrt to the engagement ring, that it was the final request of about 6 large items. This person had a car radio snatched, a laptop dropped, a phone stolen. The ring was "stolen" but was really supposedly left in a cab or something. He was a scam artist, fo sho. :D

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

How bizarre! I know some people given away stuff rrather than be bothered with the hassle of advertising in the press/ebay etc but that is crazy. Must be either a joke or that's one cranky partner when he gets home.

Either that or a very bad divorce and they'd rather give it away than given them half :(

Hannoja, I agree that a Freecycle section would be good. I am always interested to read the various Freecycle threads and I've picked up some good tips on how to manage my Freecycling.

I filter my incoming Freecycle emails and since the last time I cleared all the messages out, there have been 246 offered, 89 taken and 103 wanted. I send them into three separate folders as they come in so I can browse them when I feel like it and they don't get in the way of my normal email activity.
  • I've managed to get rid of another few things on Freecycle this weekend - got quite a few emails from people, but some of them left a lot to be desired. "I want them, can you give me a ring on my mobile to discuss................" Oh sure. Do a favour for someone and end up paying to call their mobile too?!

Still, I've benefitted mostly where people have agreed to collect something and failed to turn up which is awful. I'm always successful as a second choice!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

    Hi everyone,
here we have, by popular demand, a Top 10 List of complaints compiled
by you, put together by us, just for you LOL. So what exactly is it
that irritates you guys, let's find out, starting with, in no
    particular order:

    ***
    10. CAPITALS - please don't shout at me, it's extremely annoying and
    I'm not blind.

    9. Manners - would it really hurt to add a please or a thank you, it
    doesn't cost anything. I'll take it....what's that?

    8. No-shows - it appears you can type to respond and make
arrangements, so why can you not send an email if you've changed your
    mind or can't make it?

    7. Wanteds - you want a what???? Are you crazy??? I can't even afford
one myself, never mind give one away.

    6. Re-selling - if I knew you were going to sell it, I'd have given it
to someone who really wanted it and would have used it.

    5. First email takes it - what do I have to do to get something, sit
by my computer all day refreshing my inbox? I do have to go to work,
it's so unfair that I get home from work and see an offered that I
really needed, followed right behind it with a taken. I offer plenty,
but never get the chance to get anything in return.

    4. Description - had I known it didn't work properly, I wouldn't have
picked it up. I can't fix things, someone else could have taken it and
fixed it. Yuuck, what's that smell, is it cigarette smoke.....oh no,
    I'm allergic get it out.

    3. Sob stories - Oh no...this one's on benefits, has 6 kids and 2 dogs
and is broke, the next response has had her house burgled, her cat
died, her car was just stolen and I'm sure she could really use the
basket of smellies. Do I have to give it to the neediest person?
Are those the rules? How am I to decide when all I get is hard luck
    stories?

    2. Chat speak - i wud reply if i nu wot u ment to say to me so plz im
not 4teen i dont get it.

And.....drum roll please, the overwhelming winner, hands down the most
    complaints.. .......

    1. Taken - how hard is it to post a taken. I would send another email
and ask about it but I don't want to appear to be harassing you. I saw
another one posted but I didn't respond as I didn't want to end up
with two if all of a sudden you emailed me about it. Doesn't it annoy
you to keep getting emails about it when it's already gone. Please,
please, please, post a taken, just put me out of my misery.

So that's it folks, all the things that annoy you and your fellow
members. So be nice, treat other members as you would like to be
treated yourself, hey, it's the Freecycle way, and above all, have
fun. Thanks for making a difference
***actually taken from members complaints. Names have been removed to
    protect the guilty LOL

Seems that no 7 strikes a chord with a lot of people!!!

    NewMum,
    Nice post.

No 1 for me by a long way is the Boot sale and EBay sellers who NEVER declare themself. I just hate being taken for a mug by these liars.
  • Cardew, I havent had that happen yet but just today i offered some baby clothes and a lady answered and wanted me to deliver them to her over 6 miles away!!! I had stated collection only!
