hi...hoping this is the right place, it seemed like the obvious one
if anyone works in a supermarket, could you please tell what time you tend to reduce goods, and what time you reduce them to silly prices.
i always try to go an hour before closing, but find all is left is a bunch of pork pies or something similarly useless, yet on one occasion at 3pm found all sorts of goodies at 80% off

well I work in Tesco!
I do the reductions in my store. My shift normally starts at 6.30pm and I do everything down by 80% from that time!

Good idea! My safeways used to do it at 4 o'clock and then again at 5.30 but they've just switched to a Morrisons and they laughably do the same but only take 10p off!!! All the local bargain hunters crowd round, then see the measley discount, laugh and walk off!! We're used to Safeways taking 50% off then reducing everything to like 9p!!!0

In the store I work I wouldn't call them 'bargain hunters' more like scroungers! And in my case they don't laugh and walk off. They stand there and shout abuse etc at me!
All in a days work!

In Iceland it's first thing in the morning. Always get my bread for the week then and freeze it, fruit and meat as well. The bread and that tends to go very quickly so best getting there early.Accepted offer on our house - Sept 2006

Whats always really funny in my job is that people always make excuses to me about why they buy reduced stuff! (The nice people do anyway).
But to be honest I don't really care! lol
Do any of you make excuses???? lol

Mu OH works In somerfield and they rduce around 6pm, with another reduction the following morning at 8am...In this trusted place U can erase
Every tear that ever rolled down your weary face
All the time U waste in that paper chase
Is time better spent in these arms of mine0 -
why reduce in the morning? surely people will buy it anway..though personally if i see the sell by date for meat etc is the same day i look for more fresh stuff or feel disgruntled that it wasn't reduced
what really annoys me in our sainsburys though, is if say a whole chicken is on half price offer, you wil see someone with a trolley full..probably businesses who find it easier/cheaper than buying wholesaleMembre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0
