Sorry again for being a bit slow with these things!:o0 -

it shouoldn't, if you just change the ip for the wired lan connection and not the wireless lan. even if you did, you'd just have to change it back to what it was previously to get it to work.0 -
I found another link which covers crossover connection below, but you may want to look at the general network links previously posted above for more how to detail.

One great bit of advice in here for your setup is to put your static IP settings for xbox FTPing in the Alternate Configuration tab. This should mean you can't mess up your current internet setup in the General tab, but I believe you would need to turn off the wireless network to force it to use the alternate config.0 -
Ok, set the Xbox to a static IP in the network menu.
Set it to something like this:
IP: 191.167.0.1
Subnet: 254.254.254.0
and set the PC to
IP: 191.167.0.2
Subnet: 254.254.254.0
then connect, you change it from the normal 192.168.x.x as if your using the internet from a wireless network at the same time, you'll loose the internet whilst you FTP as it gets confused with them on the same main IP, fixed mine and it works fine now.0 -
only just found this thread, so hoping someone can help, as I've looked all over the place for info but not found what I need.
I have a soft-modded xbox (not done by me), with XBMC. I have FTP'd music and movies to it via my network, but the Hard Disc is getting full and I'd like to put in a larger one (I already have an old but unused 300gb Maxtor).
Problem is, I don't have a PC, only a laptop, so I'm unsure how to go about unlocking the drive and so on, to perform the hotswap. So do I need to buy a HD caddy ? Or is there some other way ?
Can someone point me to a n00bie guide, please ?
(PS - I'm not bothered about Xbox live, if that makes a difference).Nature is a language ... can't you read ?0 -
You'll need a PC or a usb adaptor(external HDD case) to set up the new HDD you'll also need to backup the eeprom from the existing hdd and ftp that to your laptop0

A usb adaptor will not work xbhdm is setup to recognise the IDE primary master only.0
