    Phone up the AAdvantage number in the U.S. not here as they aren't very good. [

    I'm amazed to read this-I have found AA in Europe (call centre is actually in Dublin) to be excellent. I've organized challenges, upgrade requests (I got Gold the hard way and just finished the Plat challenge) payment with bump vouchers etc and never had any issues whatsoever. The only time I've ever spent money on a transatlantic call is when I've needed to call very late at night-and to be honest I found the response to be OK but not as good as the European reservation depts.
    I actually thought it was in France or somewhere on mainland europe, as each time I phoned I got someone with a French sounding accent. Of course, you don't have to pay for the transatlantic call if you use Skype.
    I bow to your more obviously vast experience, as I have only phoned them twice, and on both occations I had to call again on the U.S. number as "ours" couldn't answer my queries.
    The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    I've found the people at the AA call centre at Dublin to be very helpful, but I've found the opening hours to be very poor.

    I agree Murphy-It always surprises me that they don't transfer calls through to the US out of hours.
    I've yet to manage to stump them with a question Stoneman-what did you ask them? :)

  • Anyone know if the Mastercard 15% still works?

    It worked for me last Sunday.
  • The Mastercard offer is still being advertised when I login to my morgan stanley card (and click 'offers').

    Incidentally I tend to find there is more price variation and sucess with savings on the AA website when you are not flying directly than to those where you are getting a direct flight (ie looking at my summer flights to Boston I couldnt really get a variation in Direct flight prices/only in those with one stop which I wouldn't want!).

    If the mastercard offer was still on, and about the platinum challange.

  • From time to time, I go back and keep running my itinerary through the AA website, just to get a feel for how the pricing structure works and I've spotted something else that seems to vary quite often.
    If you are booking an Infant With A Seat, the tax portion on the ticket price keeps changing. Currently, adults,children and Infants In a Seat are paying £80.10 in tax, but on other days, the tax on an Infant In A Seat ticket is only £40..

    Very Odd :confused::beer:

    Want to book a cruise, so now need to buy the Miami flights independently through AA - so to recap can I still get a 20 per cent discount if I phone up with my Mastercard details and have made a 'provisional' booking on line??

    Think it's 15 percent on the airfare-not the taxes tho Karena
    Stoneman I think you just hit unlucky-I've signed up for challenges for myself and for friends with no issues over several calls.
