Shame that it does not work overseas, could watch the soap's whilst you were away.

I go away to get away from soaps. Or anyone who watches or discusses them.

It wont let me view anything because it says the service is only available to viewers in the UK. I am in th UK:confused:

This is most likely to be your ISP. It would not be AOL by any chance?

AOL and some others have technical setups that rely on non-uk internet addresses - usually USA or France. This means a casual examination of the address your machine is broadcasting to the outside world shows it to be located in the USA, or elsewhere in the world.

The fact that it's NOT is something you need to pursue with the ISP you use. Or change ISP to one that does things properly.

    No not AOL - Plusnet.

I've just tried it again and it is working now so it must have been some sort of temporary glitch:confused:

    Thanks for your advice anyway:D

Do u need a TV licence for this?
  • Hi Sorry if this is an old thread

    but
1/ Subtitles are now available on many Iplayer progs

2/ proxies are pretty useless to watch iplayer, better to use a VPN.

I am frequently not in UK and made one for myself in April , and now it is a hobby biz as so many friends and family abroad want UK TV.

Plenty of people offering this service, and you are welcome to test mine!

I agree. But when I stayed with relatives in Australia they were all watching/discussing East Enders. I was a sad dissapointment to them, not being able to tell them what happens next as I don't watch soaps.
I found the i player just in time to watch the last episode of Survivors whcih I had misse as I was out. Very useful.
