OK, NSD Monday to Friday, work all weekend - you`re a teacher, right?
Re the admirer - when you are old and misshapen like me, you`ll look back on the day you had a stalker and dream of past triumphs.

Ah Sarah what a lovely post- I do feel chippier!!!

I know it sounds selfish/ungrateful when I moan about being 26 (I want it to be 25-then I can pass if off as a blip in my teens and early twenties lol) by the time I'm debt free but it's so frustrating when my friends are booking flights and buying shoes and clubbing and eating out the whole time- and they are debt free- because they have this dispoable income that i don't.

I have to remind myself that I did all that for 5 years- hence this mess lol! And cajole myself with the fact it'll only be a year/18months tops til it's all gone and I can treat myself again!

But reading your post was lovely- by 26 at the latest I will know all there is to know about budgetting/saving/frugal living/stretching money.

You're so right- I am very very very lucky that this happened now while I'm young and now while it's just little old me- no kids and living by myself. That way I can hardcore it in secret and no one can moan or turn blue when the place is arctic and im wrapped up in every item of clothing I own!!!

    Love Miss Shoes xx

(((hugs)))) you're very welcome!!! *warm cosy glow from lovely feedback*

I don't think you're selfish, or ungrateful though!!!! I can completely understand your anger and frustration at yourself. But, pat yourself on the back, and say it could have been so much worse before you stopped!!! How about making a commitment to pay any extra earnings straight to that evil Vanquis card?

I can't remember if you said that you'd done you snowball calculation or not??? It's really helped me, as I can see exactly how to pay it all... Just a thought. Not wanting to teach you to suck eggs if you're already doing it!! (just re-read, and seen you are having fun with the snowballs!! )

RE: you're friends living it up.... how do you know they're not racking up debt too  You never know babes, in a little while, it'll be you having guilt free, debt free fun.... while they're wondering how you're debt free and happy!!! :p

OMG I am having the worst day. I feel so so so so angry at everything and everyone. There are such dodgy politics at my work- lots of talking about people/their promotions/how good they are at their job.

I'm being screwed by the system- got to have a meeting with my boss who feels we need to clear the air- they offered me a promotion and then said it would be too much for me with other work commitments and responsibilties I have. Fine. Then I hear from other people with the same job as I was being offered that we'll be working together in the future and they're so glad someone like me is coming onto their team. So it was being talked about as if it was happening/people were discussing me in their meetings but I know nothing about it

Making me think it's still on the cards. So I cut my other commitments to show willing and start doing extra stuff ie an action plan: what I would do in the job, strategies to implement, ideas I have. So fired up and enthusiastic.

Now I dont know what's happening. I have to show willing without being arrogant. Im young and being fast-tracked kind of- always get offered things, always say yes and I'm a real team player. Now feel really betrayed that I've been working my **** off doing 12 hours days, evenings, weekends, extra paperwork, taking other people's responsibilities, implementing new ideas and strategies etc etc and for what??? I haven't had a day off. What am I busting a gut for?

I'm ready for this job. I was told I was ready- that my age shouldn't be a factor. I've sidelined other things I want to do. Now it doesnt look like it'll happen and I don't know why. When the new person too over I gave it everything when others were being cynical and resentful, I committed myself fully and have given 100% to everything, not missed a day even with personal tragedies.

Sorry to rant and sound selfish but I'm in the dark and dreading our meeting to clear the air and don't know what to say and don't want to not say something I should.

Sitting in tears....sometimes life is so unfair and illogical- I look at some of the decisions made by this boss and feel bitter, really bitter that clearly something isn't working but I'm not good enough to fix it.

    MS
    Hi honey
I don't think you sound at all selfish, more like you need a day off! Work can really suck, can't it. I know many, many people who have sunk their all into their work only for wretched politics to change things at the last minute.

Are you a person who likes lists? (I am!) One thing that works for me before difficult meetings is just to spend a few calm minutes writing down what I need to say, so it might be things like why you feel you are ready for the job, what others have said, how you would implement things etc, a careful balance between 'I have no life and your job means everything to me' and 'I've busted my gut for you as this job is so important to me'!

Personally, I no longer look for opportunties to do that bit extra as I've had my spell of never finishing work before 7/8pm (and then taking it home), working things through during holidays etc. That's lead to me feeling different about myself, whether that is because I have boundaries that get crossed only if I choose and therefore am respected by my team, or because I feel a better work/life balance etc. I think that many many people do it though, so as I tell my staff, if its your choice to do voluntary work for the company then go for it!!

I hope none of that came over as patronising - it was all intended as being supportive.

No that didn't sound patronising at all- thank you for responding. I am tired and ill and stroppy and I definitely seem to be taking things all a bit too personally! I have really got behind the new ethos and regimes and systems and workloads and been championing it and now I feel like why bother. What a waste of time. I should go somewhere where commitment is valued and people recognise a good thing- or even just somewhere where people don't feel threatened and jealous and get gossipy about someone who wants to do well and will work hard to get there.

Feeling really down and all alone.... definitely a self-pity day!

Just look at your thread if you want evidence of 'virtual' support, you've got loads! Any chance of an early night as you're feeling poorly? When is your meeting?
