    Hi MissShoes!

Just read your diary (I'm just as bad at updating mine so don't worry!!!). Just wanted to say don't feel bad about slipping up sometimes - we all do it. When you start new routines, it takes a while before they become natural and a habit!

As for having a lodger - go for it!! Especially as you know him so you could still mooch around in your dressing gown! It'll definitely help to have some extra money coming in to chick at those debts.

    Good luck!
  • Hi Miss Shoes the main thing your debt has gone DOWN so don't be hard on yourself.

If you want to pay off £1166.58 by Xmas why don't you divide that by how many days you have left of this year so you know a daily amount you have to find? It may motivate you to make as much 'extra' as you can?

    Good luck

    Hi there
Have read your diary from the beginning. I think the thing that stands out is that now all of your cards are under their limits again. So now you can start to look at reclaiming the charges from them. It is only bank charge reclaiming that is on hold.

Well done on cracking on with the ebaying. Don't forget that Amazon and Greenmetropolis.com are good alternatives to Ebay for books, and play.com for dvd selling.

There is a special occasion (on old style forum i think) thread that has loads of ideas for cheap but pretty xmas presents. So maybe worth popping over to there to get some ideas before worrying too much about xmas presents

Hi You are doing so well. Have you had a look at the snowballer to see which card to clear 1st?
Congrats at getting into Uni BTW
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Awe you poor thing that is just awful!

So I guess first question is how much do you use/need the car?

Would the garage let you pay in say 3 installments? Or would they keep it until you do have the money?

I have no idea how you can get that much money so quickly sorry but long term could you do mystery shopping/bar work/christmas job as places like Next take on for Christmas?

Car boot? Pawn anything? Sorry I'm clutching at straws here for you...
  • Oh and I don't know if you use Quidco but if so have you got anything due to be paid today?
  • Not sure, don't know anything about them?? But I think they are paying £50 on Quidco?

Would it help to post a new thread asking peoples opinions?

    hi there

i have just read this thread in one go after reading your one about the car.

although you said you got a good deal on your car, it seems to have cost you quite a bit over this thread! how come you got charged £300 to be towed - were you not with aa etc? are you now? if not there are cheap deals through quidco or autoaid for full cover for less than £40.

i wonder whether you should do you soa again and budget for absolutely everything so you really know where you are? set a budget for you for the week so that you don't spend the extra cash you earn.

you can pay money off credit cards at any time of the month - as soon as you get the extra cash in, pay it off the highest card immediately.

re. paying for the car now - can you get a second opinion? is it worth it (ie. it will cost £600, how much will you lose from jobs you can't go to)?

i took out a payday loan just to 'make' the £50 cashback, but you would have to be strict/organised and the % rates are terrible.

i don't know what the % rates are for a pawn shop, but that is an option for your ring.

do you have a spare bedroom? rent it out asap as this is a free and tax-free way to make 4k+ a year. this would help you pay your debts quicker and give you money for contingency.

i do feel for you and i hope things work out x
