Just read your thread from the beginning and wanted to add my praise for you too. YOU ARE DOING BRILLIANTLY.
even the longest journey begins with a single step...
and you eat an elephant by cutting it up small - although I expect there are some lovely recipes on the OS board for using up elephant! ROTFL

You have done brilliantly. You are not rubbish. What would be rubbish is if you found yourself at 26 with double the debt. I'm 37 and wish I had the knowledge I have now debtwise at your age. Just imagine what a solvent and sorted 30 something you will be...
Keep smiling xLBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -
the thing is you have paid all that money off even with the emergencies that have come up!
you have also realised that once you get on your feet (ie. dec +£132) there is a benefit to having an emergency fund to protect you in the future.
and, like the rest of us, there is so much to list on ebay it's just a shame someone hasn't invented a gadget so that the items will take their own photos and list themselves:rolleyes: (i've tried training the cats.........) x
p.s. give littlewoods a ring and ask them to take that rate back down - if not, then make that you're priority. have you done a ceremonial burning of the catalogue btw?0 -
Hiya
I've just read your diary and wanted to say 'hi', you're doing fab!
I have a question/suggestion (nosey parker - me - never :rotfl: )
One of the things that made the biggest difference to me, when we owed money all over the place, was playing with the Snowball calculator and seeing where to direct the money to. My original mentality was that 'credit cards are evil', and tried to pay them off at all costs. However, the overdraft had a much higher interest rate (with additional charges when I miscalculated and paid too much of the credit cards  ). Once I realised that the OD had to go first, and paid minimal payments off the CCs - which felt weird - it really helped me to focus and felt so great when it had gone. We've cleared 2 whole debts now, and shifted a third to new 0% CCs, so the amount we're paying in charges and interest has gone from £160+ to less than £60/month. Now you've bought everything to under its limit, have you thought about targeting the account with the crazy APR?
Sorry for such an essay on your thread - I meant well....

Hi Miss Shoes
Just passing and looked at your thread. Your upbeat and positive posts do you credit. Yes, you had a wobble over the debt free date, but you do have a debt free date and each day brings it nearer. You are tackling everything with such determination and the changes you are making are for life - not just until 2010.
PS Keep us informed about the admirer! (Gossip? Moi?)Debt September 2020 BIG FAT ZERO!
Now mortgage free, sort of retired, reducing and reusing and putting money away for grandchildren...0 -
Well..... I was at £28000 in debt BEFORE the IVA and when the agreement went through I only (only?) owed £18900 so there's £9100 shifted in one phone call!
In reality I've paid back £2835 to them and £1100 to my friend this year... still not bad I suppose! :j
My IVA is going ok though, it's quite easy as long as I don't miss a payment by keeping money in my account. I'm worried that they'll make me pay more next March when they re-assess to see my wages have gone up. However, so have my outgoings so fingers crossed they are sensitive to that.:oDebt at IVA agree date 1/3/08 £28k (reduced to £18,900)

Ah you cheated lol! I'm only kidding- so in reality we've cleared a similar amount of debt in the same amount of time and now we have similar amounts of debt.....fancy a race lol?!?!?!
So how are you going to survive your last few days with no money?
Miss Shoes xx
Yeah I'll race you no problem heh heh! But remember, you're at an advantage as I know the exact date my last payment will be whereas you will be able to shift more debt in a shorter time if you gain any extra income or lottery wins haha!
How to survive with 50p in my pocket?? Well.... play music as loud and often as possible, watch ALL the football there is to watch, watch any films that are on, go to the gym as often as possible and chat to people online in the evenings...that should get me there...my one concern is that I'm down to only 2 cans of cider in the fridge for tonight and that's it!! Maybe my brother will feel sorry for me midweek and treat me to a cheap bottle of wine? haha!!

Hi MissShoes I've just read your thread all the way through. I wanted to say Hi, and to say that I'm glad you sound a bit more chipper this evening.
Me and the OH have just done our snowball thang... had our LBM in Sept, we've got a DFD of Sept 2012.
I wanted to say in response to you feeling angry with yourself about you being 26 by the time you'll be debt free..... Don't be mad... jump up and down for joy!!!! That's SO young!!!! We'll be 44 and 49. I so wish we could have had your awareness at your age!
Keep on at it honey. You'll conquer it all.
