  • Is the £275 including bills or is that the rent and then you will halve all utility bills?
  • Sounds a very fair deal to me BUT would there be problems if she is not as careful with utilities as you may be? If she paid rent and then paid half of the bills as they arised then maybe you would feel she was paying her fair shair of bills if they more than double after her moving in?

I'm guessing she had bills to pay on top of her £410 at the bed sit?
  • Personally I think £175 is too low as she will be using all your things and essentially you are responsible for the up keep of the flat. I assume she would be using your appliances etc which obviously you can't charge her for but also if they broke you would have to buy new so I would factor in this kind of thing. I think £200 plus half of bills is a great deal. She will be saving half her rent at the moment and also I assume nicer surroundings too?

I hope other people come along so to give their opinion/advice but also as the poster said above maybe you should post a seperate thread in another section ie renting.

    Good luck

  • If you say £300 all in then say you pay more per month for:
    CT: £32?
    Gas: £10
    Elec: £10
    Water: £10
    Phone call: ??

You will be getting £238 rent ish less any phone calls she may make plus extra less wear and tear? Plus she will be getting free internet. Sounds like too good a deal to me but thats just my opinion. Hopefully just reading our opinions will help you make a choice rather than confuse you :o Plus if you do an all in figure will you then have to work out how much you can pay off debt and how much has to stay in your account towards council tax and higher bills?
  • Maybe best to aim higher and then say to her its negoitable if she doesn't think its a fair deal.

Who is paying to split the room when you decide to do it?

  • MissShoes,
the joy that comes from being debt-free is a million times the joy from shopping and partying, even in your 20s and single, shopping will cause you sleepless nights unless you can afford it. Good luck, xx

  • Hey there,

Just been catching up on your thread. I would say it may be easier to ask for a lump sum each month and then you'll feel more in control. Thing is she has to see the living space etc as being better than she is in now or it'll not be worthwhile for her.

I think £300 all in would be a good start - just make sure that you put aside a bit of the money each month towards the cost of bills or up your normal DD payments to include a second person as you don't want to get caught out and end up owing more money on your utilities and have a big bill to contend with.

As long as she pays all her own cost for food etc i'm sure it'll be fine. Good luck, its great that you'll have the extra income. Lucky you!!! xx
