Mobile Broadband???

Arriving late to the discussion but I'm in similar position to OP, only FTTP available and my old copper BB is going.
I decided to try mobile BB because I have to lose the landline phone, which I do use, so whatever I do I have to change my BB .
Rather than commit to another new contract I decided, after getting idiots explanation from Chat GPT, to try mobile BB, Mi Fi?, because I can get a monthly roll over SIM and forget it at very little cost to me should it not work
I bought a 4g router, on offer, with fingers crossed it was plug & play. Plus a 60G monthly SIM from ID. My post code is mixed for 4G and about nil for 5G
To my surprise it all worked, plug & play and all my internal wi fi is just the same AKIK. I do not game, but do watch films, video and the like. Only me using, not a houseful of tik tokers or similar
Total cost to try it so far is £35 for 4g router [Mercusys MB115 4G ] and £7 for the ID monthly SIM. I have found by trial and error my use is about 6G daily and will need to go for much higher, or unlimited data. Using a comparison site I can get unlimited ID SIM for around £15 a month.
I will be doing this. As it happens it is less than half the price of my current BB, but I'm not doing because of cost, I'm being pushed into it.
Just mentioning this for OP, maybe worth a try and get a monthly rolling SIM as a trial
PS router is upstairs near window

Hi Farway,
Glad everything is working well for you. I use Three home broadband as it's unlimited and it works great with my 5G modem. As you've realised it is genuinely plug and play and as easy to setup as the router you get with normal FTTC/FTTP.
If you fancy saving even more money, there is an offer at the moment for a 1TB data SIM card from a company called scancom in conjunction with HotUKDeals. Basically it costs £54 for two years data (1TB every month which resets on the 8th of a month). It works out at about £2.35 a month for 1TB.
I have been with scancom for a few years and they work great - I've just got the offer myself for when I'm away from home and I highly recommend it if you get a satisfactory signal from Three mobile (which is what ID mobile uses).

Thanks for bearing with me.
On Uswitch I found something that might be suitable.
Some websites now say full fibre is available.Enter the postcode N5 2SU and select any house number.
I've no idea if the price and speed compared to part-fibre make a difference for what I use broadband for (my current part-fibre with around 55 mb is fine).
On Uswitch I selected broadband only and no phone (and not the mobile broadband). I found something that might be more than suitable.https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/results/?source-slug=broadband_only
If you select hyperoptic and click on the 150mb it takes you to their website, where there are the details of Superfast.
Average download speed 158Mbps*Average upload speed 155Mbps*
Expected Wi-Fi speeds: 150 Mbps*
Total cost £392 (avarage montly price £16 per month).
£0 for installation
It doesn't mention the router. What do you think?
Although I agree with those who said that part- might be more than suitable for me, I haven't found a cheaper one.
Thank you so much.

It will do what you want, but then so might mobile broadband.

Just on the router point, all Hyperoptic deals come with a router at no extra cost.
One point to note, Hyperoptic own the network and offer the internet service - just like Virgin Media. You don't have the choice to switch to another ISP at the end of the contract unless you move to another network, which it sounds like you don't have if no other supplier (like Openreach) is showing FTTP at your premises (at least at the moment).
Using another network would mean having another fibre connection installed.
Remember that Hyperoptic increase the price by £4/mth every April.
If you are a cashback collector then going via Topcashback should get you £40-odd for a 24 month deal.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding but you make it sound as if you think you can't have a landline phone with FTTP?

For anyone considering 4G/5G mobile broadband BTW I'd budget an extra £20 and get an external antenna, presuming the supplied router has a connection for one. Otherwise you'd need to stump up for your own router as well.

Back to square one? I had decided to not go for mobile broadband.

Okay. If you've ruled that out then fine.

I had Virgin Media a long time ago. No idea if Hyperoptic having their own network complicates things (installation?). From Virgin Media I switched to BT (or Shell or Plusnet can't remember), and went back to the old connections.
For me prices are clearer to understand than the technical details.
I need to find something suitable for what I use and I can pay.
I'm back to square one then.
