    Huh? 😊

I have no idea as to what you have written.

I wrote about PCs not officially supported for Windows 11. That you can install Windows 11 26H2, receiving updates at least until 10th of October 2028.

No idea why people still appear to get touchy on this subject.

Yes you can force an install of windows 11 onto an unsupported PC. But that doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get updates until 10th October 2028, or any date. Microsoft could easily decide to not provide further updates for such configurations

Please, if you can, show some evidence of this happening in the past. 😊 It's easy to conjure up a scenario, but I suspect that you will struggle to find any evidence that supports your assertion.

What? well, I can't provide evidence of something being true in the future? I only said 'could'. Microsoft could stop updates for unsupported machines. This has been the case since W11 launched.

It's you who seems to be claiming something not backed up by evidence - where's this declared guarantee of updates for unsupported spec machines running 26H2 until late 2028?

Microsoft could absolutely stop W11 updates for unsupported machines at any time

This doesn't mean to say they will, but they could

I didn't ask about the future. I asked for evidence of it happening in the past. You cannot. Your statement is based on nothing but your imagination.

If you can explain to our readers quite how Microsoft could possibly do it from a technical point of view, then at least there would be some science behind your assertion. But I'm guessing that you won't be able to do that either.

Updates for 26H2 are guaranteed until the 10th of October 2028. No exceptions.

For me it's absolutely shocking that people will thank others for 'advice' based on nothing at all, whilst ignoring advice based on knowledge and experience.

Installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware using Rufus to bypass the TPM 2.0, Secure Boot or CPU requirements doesn't make that hardware officially supported.

    Microsoft explicitly states:

"Devices that don't meet these system requirements might malfunction due to compatibility or other issues. Additionally, these devices aren't guaranteed to receive updates, including but not limited to security updates."

Like I said - touchy. No idea why this riles some people.

Microsoft could stop updates. They don't guarantee them. End of story, really. Personally I think it'd be fine, but saying it's guaranteed is wrong.

If you can explain to our readers quite how Microsoft could possibly do it from a technical point of view

Well, they know our PC specs since they offered W11 upgrades to those running W10 with compatible hardware. They could launch some future logic that only offers updates to a 26H2 install should the same hardware checks pass.

"Launch some future logic"? 😄 Stop it, you are tickling me 😂 That's not how it works and that is why you should not be arguing, if you don't understand how it works.

The simplest explanation is that there is a flag, on initial install of the OS, that checks if you have a Gen 8 or above. If no, then the install doesn't go ahead. Remove that flag and the install goes ahead. That's it. There is no magical future logic, but just a check at the initial install. Then everything runs as per usual. Of course if you have a fifteen year old device, they aren't going to guarantee that everything will work. But updates will still be delivered. It's not me who is 'touchy'. I'm discussing from knowledge and experience and reading things here that defy reality. It's more bemusing than anything else.
