I assume you can't get your frequent virgin discount as well. Aah well I had grand ideas about using them towards a holiday but I would be better off buying my Rado watch. Its the same price no matter how I pay for it:eek:
    £2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Bake Off Boss!
The only bad thing with this is that you have to use them against brochure price. This can be crazily more expenisve than the online price with online discounts, specail net offers ect.
We were going to use our vouchers agaisnt a £3000 holiday to Barbados with Virgin holidays - then we see the price was like £900 cheaper online!!!!
You could be using them and wasting them as something like that, you would be paying an extra £1000 anyway!

If I have read this right there are two choices for your £3000 holiday.

    1. £750 in tesco deal vouchers

    or
    2. £2100 cash.

Isnt it a no brainer ?

'Tis an absolute no brainer for me ;)

We had a fabulous Christmas week in Luxor booked with vouchers which we would never have been able to afford ordinarily :T

is it worth saving my tesco clubcard vouchers for a holiday to florida, even if it takes a year to save, anyone done this any good:confused:
Well on my hunting for a deal of a lifetime for me and my brood i found i would have saved £5000 by booking with another company other than virgin itself, unbelievable i thought! im sure im not the only one who would think virgin would give you a better deal.......defo not, be rest assured, i would have got exactly the same car, insurance, flight, even the same seats going with a different company saving me thousands!!! so my advise is with all the money you would have spent in tescos to get your points to exchange for deals you would probably find it cheaper so save your cash and book with another company other than virgin.....anyhow, happy holidays :)
  • If you don't mind could you tell us which company that was?

we saved for 2 years and went last year.we paid £517 in tcc vouchers and about £500 in cash.could have paid it all in vouchers but didn't wait for the feb statement to come in.we toured Florida and that included 11nts accommodation. we booked the other 7 nts ourself.we flew from Edinburgh to Fort myers.as long as you book 7nts with them if it is cheaper [not enough vouchers for the whole holiday]you can book the rest yourself.we've also went to nyc and boston using the vouchers and the west coast .it's worth it if you have alot of vouchers.

I wish I had known that I could have booked some of the accommodation myself. I have booked 17 nights altogether first 9 nights in Orlando then a cruise for 7 nights independently. I have had to book the cheapest hotel that virgin had for the 7 nights I am on the cruise as booking the cruise through virgin was too expensive. I could have saved £260.00 if I did not have to book this accommodation whilst I am on the cruise. I saved my tesco clubcard vouchers over 2 years and got £1600 Virgin holiday vouchers!

Wonder if I can cancel that accommodation for the 7 nights, does anyone know?

Someone help me out here, am I being completely thick. I am trying to work out clubcard points to amount spent. So £100 = 100pts £1000 = 1000pts, okay just answered my own question, its a 1p per point. Couldn't work out if I spent £7158.95 in 2006 why I only had £105 in vouchers.

I wonder if we can persuade them to lengthen the dates. I have approx £174 in vouchers (worth approx £696). So yes its nice to get £696 off something but I could get that off just by being a frequent flyer. You get 5% off for booking online and then you can get a further 10% for being a frequent flyer. So my £4k flights would only be £600 cheaper, so by using the vouchers I would only save £96.

I think this means that my argument that vouchers are better spent where the prices aren't loaded holds water.

I think for a regular household it would be quite difficult to save £750 in vouchers and I think my Tesco bill is quite high compared to some people I know.

    Hi JM-1972

It's worth contacting them I suppose to ask the question. I would be interested in what they have to say because the info conflicts with what I was told recently.

I telephoned them to ask if vouchers had to be used against a brochured holiday or whether they would apply to 'tailor-made' (in my instance I was enquiring about a 2 centre caribbean combination that didn't appear in their brochure.) I was told that the vouchers could be used for any holiday I liked as long as it included accomodation throughout.

The thing is with any enquiries you just have to hope that the person at the end of the phone knows what they are talking about.
  • Just want to add a little point about the Tesco Points, what ever you get back in points is a bonus as they are given to us shoppers as an extra freebie, yes I know its to keep us shopping there but how many other large supermarkets give these for us to choose how we use them, just a thought.
