Anyone now powering their home / exporting via their EV (V2X)? Tariff query..
My first EV (V2X ready) is coming in December. I am having a V2X charger installed, including a home gateway for island mode. I am presently with Octopus however as I wish to retain control of my charge / discharge schedule I will be limited to Octopus Go with a import export margin of only 2.5p for my region. I am not interested in Octopus's lease Power Pack EV tariff. So my questions are: 1) is anyone doing the same as me and can share their experience, 2) does anyone know of an energy company offering a better margin than Octopus Go (retaining manual scheduling). Cheers.

EDF EV tariff. Are you going Sigenergy?

No home battery (RoI longer than warranty..) so Zaptec Go 2 only. Will check out EDF.

Zaptec Go 2 describes itself as "bidirectional-ready (V2G Ready)" but is this actually allowed? Presumably at the very least you need DNO permission and they will set a limit on the amount of power you can export (whether or not you wish to).
Which is the compatible car you are getting. I have wanted to do what you are planning but didn't think it was yet possible. Apart from one forumite participating in a field trial, I don't think anyone has posted about doing V2X.

Hi there. Yes, they can say that mainly due to its ISO 15118-20 compliance. I have a DNO export limit of 6kWs from my existing solar panels install and as long as I ensure that my combined total EV / panels export remains capped at that value I believe the DNO just need a notification of new exporting equipment. I have ordered a Kia EV5 GT Line S which Kia state is V2X ready. V2H should be possible almost straight away and V2G hopefully soon after.

I don't think it works like that.
You are effectively connecting a new inverter to the grid, and for that you will require a new G99 application before your installer is allowed to connect the equipment because your total inverter capacity exceeds 3.68kW. IOW, you will need to seek permission from the DNO before installation, not notify them of a change afterwards.
Where is the inverter that is doing the V2X? Is it in the wallbox charger or in the vehicle, as presumably that is the device you will need permission to connect?
Please let us know what the DNO says.

Per the link previously shared, Zaptec chargers are AC-bidirectional and so the inverter is in the car.
The next question then must be whether Kia have got G99 approval for their in-car inverters.

The inverter is in the car but the Zaptec has to be able to measure the export and throttle it down to whatever the DNO permits.

It's not just export, the DNO may set a total capacity limit. SSEN for example set (in our case) export limit based on 1.3% voltage rise, total capacity based on 2.3%. The reason being (a) because export limit control is imperfect meaning short term variations above the set limit, and (2) in case export limiting fails, they want to know the worst case effect of all your generation capacity.

My OZEV approved NICEIC / NAPIT electricians visited for a site survey last week where I discussed my plans with them. I stated that V2H is my primary focus (as this reduces my import to minimum cost, which is two thirds of my estimated V2X saving) and as it does not require a DNO notification can be implemented effectively straight away. The electrical design and installation will also be V2G ready (via export balancing in the Zaptec Go 2 / Home Gateway product, to be decided, suggestions welcome) to be enabled in due course by "flicking a switch" / software setting change.
From what I have researched, and discussed with my old solar panel installation firm / my current electricians, although yes, technically a new G99 has to be submitted, as long as the maximum combined panels / EV export can be proven to be capped to my existing 6kWs G99, the new G99 will be normally be considered as a notification / rubber stamp exercise. Time will tell.

WE have a 10kw G99 and I might want to swap our 6kw V2H with an 8kw battery alongside our 3.68 PV - I am hoping that with an export limit this would like yours be a rubber stamp exercise to get DNO approval for the change so please let us know how you get on.
