Comments in this article doubts the current existence of a 'SOLR' process.

Looks like BT is buying the retail and wholesale businesses. That will upset a lot of the other players.

While it might upset other market players, it's probably easier to go down this route than figure out what to do with everybody who'd be left in the lurch should TalkTalk have folded.
Its basically a SOLR sort of intervention, aided I suspect because TalkTalk have fingers in government pies as it were, and can't really have a situation where government communications are dead in the water.
As alluded in the article normally this would trigger anti-competition laws, but as its an emergency situation due to the size of TalkTalk and its customer base, BT seem to have acted in the public interest and the government have given them the go ahead. It may become similar to a Plusnet style arrangement in terms of the operating, but probably have to wait and see what happens when the dust settles.
Interesting times to come.

Can't believe that there won't be some sort of conditions imposed on BT - If not ,then we would be on our way back to the monopoly situation of the last century!

I've been with TalkTalk in one form or another for 22 years !
Nildram, Carphone Warehouse, Opal, Tiscali etc - I have stuck with them through bad and good !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.1 -

BT takeover of TalkTalk: What it means for TalkTalk customers - Uswitch
I found this on Uswitch which explains everything in simple language I understand. Hopefully it will help others in the same situation as myself.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on my original post.
