Mifi with poor wifi signal

I've had mobile internet via a teltonika RUTX50 with an external Poynting antenna with data sims bought from scancom for a good few years now and the mast i get connected to is a tad over three miles away. Setup is expensive but with an unlimmed data sim that works out at less than a tenner a month i've already broken even on costs so moving forward i'm saving a fortune as long as nothing fails this next few years or more.
I find my internet connection to be very stable, more stable than the fibre i had with BT and a lot faster.
Where i live now my only other options are starlink and fibre with quickline. Some neighbours have chosen quickline and are very disapointed, two have switched to mobile broadband and are now happy, one to starlink and they are very unhappy and will be looking at mobile broadband as soon as they are out of contract.
If i was to move to an another house now with greater choice of fibre providers i would still choose a mobile connection having experienced it myself. Theres no gong back for me.

Got a mobile phone? Reasonable amount of data on the contract? Swap the SIM into the MiFi and give it a quick try.
Don't do a speed test and don't try this if you are on PAYG.

I did try this but it wouldn't connect for some reason

Perhaps you need to sort this out, as in is the MiFi a working device, before looking to source a data SIM.
Got/found a manual for it? You need to get at the user interface - usually done via a browser just like the interface for your broadband router.

yes I do have a a manual but it just says password is etc and I have followed instructions which are brief!
All lights are on on the device etc

What make and model is the MiFi? Is it old enough that it's 3G only?

I have just realised that we are replying to someone who has joined the thread to ask their own question and it's not the OP.
Yes it could be a 3g device but would it be better for @littleredhen to start their own thread?

We've split this into a separate thread for you.

When you say your broadband from Talk Talk is rubbish/slow, what speed do you actually get? Does that meet or exceed the minimum speed guarantee you were given for the service?
