Santander Customer Prize Draw (Monthly from August to December 2026)

Winners will be contacted by telephone sounds like a scam about to happen. Let's hope there aren't to many people who give away their log in details by mistake !

Sounds good. The more people who don't know anything about it or who have difficulty registering means better odds for everyone in the draw.

My thoughts exactly

Nasqueron If you read the terms, the big winners get a phone call and have to confirm ID to get the cash, small winners will just get it paid towards the end of the month after the draw
That's not in the terms. It's in the blurb, and even the blurb doesn't say "to get the cash" or anything of the sort. The terms just say that they will contact winners of £10k+ by phone, email and app. Nothing about having to confirm ID to get the cash. Nothing about providing security information.
If your name is picked, the phone call is just a courtesy call to tell you that you won. It's not a requirement to get the prize. You still get the prize paid, unless you no longer have a Santander account to have it paid into or for some reason you decide to decline it.

Hopefully the winners of the £10k don't get their accounts locked due to fraud checks. 😚

But wouldn't Santander want to confirm that they are speaking to the account holder ? How might they do that, by asking some security questions ? Exactly the sort of trick a scammer might use. Id be very wary and just prefer them not to contact me. How would you suggest I make sure it's not a scammer on the other end of the phone ?

Same way as with any call from your bank, ask for a reference or department then ring them back via a published number.

Call them back. Don't take the call if you don't want to. Tell them you're in a public place and can't talk right now. Send them a message in the app. You'll receive confirmation through the app if you're a winner anyway.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who won't think to do that, that's how scammers succeed. Better they don't make the phone call in the first place.

I think it's a problem I'll worry about if I win the £10k.
