New customer prize draw announced today by Santander. T&Cs are in following post (there's no separate link to them). Opt-in required. You only need to opt-in once (not every month) to be eligible for all subsequent draws. Up to 3 entries per month per customer.

Interestingly if Santander are unable to pay a winner their prize, instead of choosing another winner, they get to keep the prize money themselves. How convenient!

What about joint accounts ? Does/can each account holder register to take part ?

I guess it's the Santander attempt at retaining their customers.

    Joint accounts are eligible.

Maximum of 3 entries per customer per month. For example, if you hold a joint current account, and a separate current account and savings account in a single name, both parties will receive an entry for an eligible current account plus the savings account holder will receive an additional entry, if the savings account is eligible.

I don't know if both parties to a joint account need to register to take part or if one party registering covers both account holders. I would say it's probably per account, so one of you logs into the joint account and registers the account into the draws.

If you have a joint account and each of you has a solo current account in addition to your joint account, each party gets an entry for the joint account, neither of you gets an additional entry for your solo current accounts, I think!

    ..and maybe it isn't.

Takes 20 seconds to register, get both parties to a joint account to do it.

Yes. I don't know the answer. So to be on the safe side better for both to register.

With the joint accounts, if each party also has a solo current account with Santander, I think the easiest way to do this is for each party to log into their app and opt-in, and just forget about the joint account as you won't get any additional entries for it.

Easy enough, shift £100 out of edge saver into a current account for the last day of the month, move it back the next day, lose a few pence of interest

Shame I can't get 4 entries for 2x current account and 2x savers!

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    Just to clarify:

If I have £100+ in my current account on the appointed day AND £100+ in a savings account BUT no credit card, I'll be entered into TWO of the monthly draws but not the third?

Yes, you get up to 3 entries per month. So you would get 2 entries per month.
