Not sure if this is possible as doesn't the name on the existing phone account has to be the same for the new phone account.?

As it's in the name of Dil will the new provider need some sort of proof that the account holder is who they say they are.

I wanted to switch last December but was going to Sky but that was in my name but broaywas in wife's name and sky wouldn't accept it as the current names didn't match

We did have broadband and landline.

The OP and her mum seems to be in a pickle over this and the email messaged up hasn't helped

The different name would be an issue if porting a number or simply switching providers expecting a quick , relatively no break in service migration, but ( for example) if you had a situation where a new customer were moving into an address where the previous occupant hadn’t ceased their service and just left , a name mis-match would completely mess up the new occupant getting service from any ISP.

It seems the way around this for the new occupants , is when on the website or calling the intended new provider you state you are about to or have just moved into the address rather than you already live there, that changes the process , the names are then irrelevant but the old provider has to be given the opportunity to contact the existing occupant (that they are unaware has left ) to see if them giving up service is OK , the thought process being if they send a letter to an address they have already vacated, then the letter goes unanswered, and in those circumstances the new company ( with a different named account holder) can take over the service , if it were a mistake , the wrong address were used , or a malicious attempt , the letter is opened , they ring their provider saying this is a mistake, and the new provider stops the other companies order going through , this process takes longer than a migration where the same person (or at least the same name ) is with the old and new providers.

In this case the OP would use the new customer moving into the address process ( even though it’s not strictly true ) to get around wanting a different name used on the new providers account, even though it’s the same user .

@ohreallƳ how did you get through to CS if the account is in Dil name?

Who's account does the money come out of?

I think you may have a problem switching as you have changed the account email recently and that maybe flagged as suspicious.

Also unless you sort out the email access I could be hard to switch as they may need you to confirm the switch by NOW sending an email for the account holder to autthe switch.
