I have been reading this with interest. I have a roasting tin from Tesco that isn't too bad (one of the heftier ones they do - other than that my bake/roast ware is a bit rubbish) but have been looking lustily at some Judge trays in TK Maxx but mainly because I like the feel of them in my hand. Anyone else got Judge???

Am just off to check out the mermaids though.....

I've got a silicon muffin tray and a silicon "tray bake" style tray. couldn't get on with the muffin one; found the muffins still got quite stuck and had to be popped out which often tore them. Love the tray bake one for things like mars bar krispie cakes though - doesn't stick at all, no need for greaseproof paper and you can cut the tray bake up still in the tin without worrying about scratching a metal surface. Love it!

The black silicon baking stuff sold in John Lewis is fabulous. I've only tried the muffin and madeleine trays so far, but things made in them just simply fall out. It's not particularly cheap - but what I've bought so far has been well worth the money.

I don't have Judge baking tins but I have a set of Judge pans and I would heartily recommend them.
I think I'll check out the baking tins next time I'm in town.

Another recommendation for the Bakingenius trays, which has held up marvellously in the face of my DH's repeated abuse of it :D unlike our other (very expensive) heavy trays which have warped out of all recognition and/or taken on the appearance of a volcanic landscape.

I've not had a problem with it sliding about, but then I don't use trivets, i just plonk mine on top of the cooker.
I haven't had any problems with the tray sliding about either but I have an old cork-backed placemat that I put it on when it's hot.

So the jury's still out on silicone bakeware, it seems that some love it and others just can't get on with it. I have a 9" silicone cake pan and hardly use it because the cakes break in half when being turned out. They taste fine but look somewhat amateur! I had assumed that this was because of the size of the tin.

Never one to be put off making cake, I bought some silicone cupcake (6) and petit four (10) size individual moulds today, for a grand total of £1.98 (I think these were new in stock). If the 99p shop can offer such value then I'm determined to have my cake and eat it.
