Halifax Reg Saver 8% - no idea where to open one !

Hi All - I've just spoken to Halifax - they've admitted that there is a problem on the website for new customers which won't be fixed til end July. The work around is to open a current account (no fee) then a regular saver, and you can then close the current account or leave it open and empty. Thanks

I'm exactly the same, recurring vicious circle online no matter what I apply for.
Its definitely another step to the name change to Lloyds so I may pop into my local branch, see if that solves it.
Worth a try.

I've not got the Halifax app, but I do have an online banking login and an existing (but empty) account. I was able to open the regular saver via the desktop site.

Whenever you try to open a current account it just directs you to Lloyds.

Final comment - I've tried to open a new current account on the website and on the app - neither work. I am giving up ! Thanks all

It's not possible to open a new Halifax current account on the website but it should still be possible via the App. What is happening to prevent you from doing so via the app?

If you are not an existing customer you cannot use the app properly until you receive an activation code through the post.

So a delay rather than a failure

Not really as I'm not sure the Halifax will allow a new customer to open a brand new RS.
They are clearly going to be rebranded very soon as Lloyds and when you look online everything is being redirected to Lloyds.
I have opened the 'other' two LBG savers but did so by phone rather than wait for an activation code, I am assuming Halifax is the same but there is no guarantee due to the rebranding.

If you've ever held a Halifax account in the past and can remember your log in details, these will still work if you hold any current Lloyd's or BoS accounts.
My dad had an account 4yrs ago which was closed and it used to not accept his Halifax log in details, but since they've linked all Lloyd's groups accounts in one online account it now will work. So he's been able to open the new regular saver.
