  • Wanted to leave a "thank you" for MSE - I recently used the service to move a £7k debt on my Tesco card over to an MBNA derivative - fluid. That debt is now costing me nothing for a year or so and I can pay it off without worry... assuming there are no more building costs to incur!

Can anyone help me please? I'm trying to find out if I can transfer a balance from a Bank of Scotland card to a Lloyds one? I can't find anything on their site other than you can't transfer from another Lloyds card but I was sure Lloyds took over BoS???

    Hi cookie334,

Yes, even though Bank of Scotland are also part of Lloyds Banking Group, you can transfer a balance from a Bank of Scotland credit card to a card with us.

    I hope this helps,

  • Hi, I'm new to this site, looking for some help please!. I currently have a CC with Virgin and have been transferring balances from another card, using the promotional 0% rate. I have about 5 different transactions, all currently at 0%. My question is, I want my monthly payments to be allocated to the transactions where the promotional rate ends first. Eg I have one rate that ends on 3/4/15 and another that doesn't end until June 2016. on the FAQ's it says that any payment will be allocated to the transactions that have the highest interest rate, but they all have the same rate - 0%? So will my payments be allocated to the transactions that have the rate ending the soonest?

    Thank you!

Indeed, for some CCs this is the case, but the only way to know is to check the T&C.
  • Can I get a new credit card to pay off the balance on a credit card belonging to someone else?

    Generally, yes, you can.
It has to be from a distinctly different provider, not from the same financial group.
Very few providers insist, however, that the name of the cardholder has to be the same. Santander and Tesco spring to mind if my memory doesn't fail me.
  • Quick question, hope someone can help, i did the credit checker and got a 90% chance of passing in my application for the barclaycard 35 month card, when i checked the card it says minimum £20,000 per annum, but my income is slightly less. I put my income into the checker, so will i still be accepted even though its slightly less, or has this checker not taken my income into account. I don't want to apply and be turned down and get a mark on my credit score. Any reply will be greatly appreciated as i am trying to sort out my finances before the end of the month.
