    Truly I am shocked.

I've just applied for the 24 months @ 0% Barclaycard Platinum, fully expecting to be rejected or a delayed response whilst they check me out some more and I've been approved!!!:eek::eek: Been given a limit and everything.

I need to lie-down.................:eek:, or I will once I've cleaned the oven and done the vacuuming (sp?).

What limit did they give, I've applied today and need about £3k. How long did they take to get back to you? Thanks.

They gave me more than enough to BT my current amounts plus change. It took, maybe, 15 mins in total. All online. I thought, even if I was accepted, I'd get less than my current total but I'd work with it.

I'm not going to do anything until the card/paperwork arrives and I see it in black and white, then I'll believe it's real and start number crunching.

I hope it works out for you.:)

    Hi everyone

i currently have a M&S credit card with 0% on purchases for 15 months however the interest is quite high so i would want to make sure my credit card is at £0 before the 15 months end which is July 2012

Are there any good deals on credit cards which will allow me to pay off the balance of this credit card, giving me more time to pay off the new credit card?

is that the best way to go about it?

    thanks

Not quite sure what you are asking. Can you elaborate?

I currently owe 2k on my interest free credit card however my interest free runs out soon and I will then have to pay interest which would become quite high.

I want to avoid the interest charges so I need to clear the balance, currently I won't have the money to pay it off so was thinking about getting a balance transfer card and transferring the debt from my credit card to my new card, this way I would avoid the interest charges and have more time to pay off the debt on the new credit card

Would that be the best way to tackle this?

You could ring your other card providers and ask if they have any BT offers. If not you could then apply for a new card. However be aware that you should not make multiple applications as this will affect your credit record.

Have a look at the thread discussing best cards for balance transfers. Some of the long term 0% ones available at present require excellent credit history and decent salary, so whether you get one or not will depend on your individual circumstances.
  • Hi,

My mother has a credit card debt of around £3500 & it's with the Halifax. She only pays (and able to afford) the minimum payment each month. She wants to pay it off as soon as possible, has anyone got an idea of the best balance transfer for her?

    Thanks

My current 0% card has about 1.8K on it and ends in June

So I'm wondering whether I wait longer, or switch now to one of these 22 or 24 month offers, hmmm

Obviously the fee will be slightly lower if I wait a couple of months, but this card earns frequent flyer miles, so would like to get it back to use for purchases, as my other credit card gives me nada

Now you've got me worried about not being accepted for another 0% as my salary has gone down recently :O.

    Update to my earlier post.

I got home to find a message from Barclaycard asking me to give them a call, which I will do tomorrow. I wonder if they are reconsidering my application?:)

Update: I called a few mins ago and they wanted to confirm I had made the application and to ask me some multiple choice security questions which included addresses and names of people. Interestingly they included a former address and people I had shared a residence with. Will receive card and pin shortly. Blimey!
