I'm wanting to transfer an exisitng balance of £2,933 to a 0% card but the deal I was looking at with MBNA (I currently already have one of their cards but the balance is from another which I want clearing. My MBNA is debt free) is giving examples of percentage rates based on a credit limit of £1,200. Does this mean they will only offer £1,200?
Thanks
£1200 is the standard figure used by all credit card companies, so that it's easier to compare one against the other. It doesn't mean that you will get a limit of £1200, or that the average is £1200, or anything like that.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Hi all,
I'm new to the site, finally trying to get my finances in order, to hopefully save enough to take the kids to Florida in 2013!
I've got debts with Barclaycard & Virgin (roughly £4000) which i'm paying about 17% interest on. I need to find a new home for them, and have been looking at the Card from LTSB where the you they give you half the Balance transfer Fee back, making the fee 1.5%?
Last time round i paid about 3% to get my 0%, so it seems like a good deal, as it will save me £60 (i think!).
I cant see any major catches and they are selling it on this basis on their website... (sorry cant post the link, but they are comparing it to other cards and it looks cheaper etc)
...but wondered if i was missing anything?0 -
The first catch is that you have to meet their criteria for acceptance.
The second catch is that once the 0% period is over you'll have to pay interest, and they can increase the rate if they want.
It would be lovely to take the kids to Florida but if you can't afford to repay the loans you already have, an expensive foreign holiday is only going to make the situation worse. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Im with Elmo on this one! I've just seen the Lloyds card and the deal is quite good, ive gone for it! Although I also agree with 'thenudeone' that you shouldn't get into debt over a holiday - maybe take the kids to EuroDisney instead!
What i found helpful is that on the Lloyds site it shows you how the deal works as apparently it works out cheaper than some of the longer length cards as theyve got a deal on at the moment - it shows you here - the Refund tab shows you some workings out which is helpful (helped me anyway)!

Hi, I have had an interest free credit card where the interest free period has just expired so I have received a statement with quite a hefty sum of interest (for me anyway!) when in fact I should have just transferred the balance, if I had known, then paid slightly more but have been interest free again.
Is there any way of avoiding paying that interest?
Its probably unlikely but thought I would ask incase!! Would v much appreciate any help!! :money:0 -

Sorry but that's extremely unlikely. You agreed to the terms at the outset and as long as the company have stuck to their part of the deal you'll have to stick to your side.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

I already have the barclayscard plat card but I applied for it before they changed to 22 months free. Can I reapply for this card??0
-
I am currently in the process of trying to transfer my credit card debts onto 0% deals with a view to trying to pay of within 12 months.
At the moment I have
MBNA bal £6551.50 Credit limit £7,000
HSBC bal 4945.91 Credit Limit £6,000
Barclaycard bal £337.96 Credit Limit £5,000
I was thinking of applying for the LLoyds platinum card to transfer the MBNA to. I'm presuming I will need another card for the HSBC to.
The question is should I apply for both at the same time or apply for one and wait to see what I am offered?
The other option is to take advantage of of the Barcalycard loophole and transfer one to that one.0 -
Hi ya, I signed up to LTSB recently and thought it was a great deal. I found them very helpful and clear in explaination. When I looked, I thought it worked out quite a bit cheaper than some of the longer deals I looked at. Although... if you did want it I think you should hurry as I heard the deal is ending soon! Hope that helps
