I have excellent credit and am a relatively high earner, own home etc.. I tried to transfer my egg balance which is high (11,500) to the 0% Barclaycard deal and it said it needed a few more days to gather additional information. Does anyone get this 0% super deal for 20 months?!

You won't be able to. Barclays owns the egg debts now, and won't allow balance transfers within their own stable.

    That's excellent.

Anyone on evil now knows how to get off it, because credit cards are the route off evil :rotfl:

    Morning All

Hoping that someone may have the answer to this question...

I have a credit card which, due to my employer, gives me favourable interest rates (c.5%) – even on cash withdrawals or transfers to my current account – and a higher than usual credit limit.

I have just noticed from this website that there’s a new 0% balance transfer deal on the market, with a 24 month 0% period and 2.8% fee.

My question is this: is it a viable option for me to open the 0% card, then ask the issuer of my usual card to transfer as much money as possible to my current account, then use the 0% deal to pay it off. Are there any restrictions on balance transfer cards, e.g. not being able to use them to pay off credit cards where you have effectively used those credit cards to obtain a cheap loan?

I hope this all makes sense...

    Thanks for the replies.

Has anyone recently applied and heard back about a Barclaycard application? I applied last Thursday evening, I can't remember how long it said it would take (if they did give a time period) to get in contact with me. I know I have a really good credit rating but I have been turned down for a Barclaycard in the past (when maybe my rating was not so good).

As long as the balance is a true balance (i.e. it won't put the card into a credit balance) and the account is being kept within the terms, there should be no problem.

There's no restriction on how the balance was arrived at.

Most people are aware that if you pay for a holiday with a credit card then this offers you better protection if the travel operator goes bust or something similar happens. My question in relation to this is.... say for instance you pay the deposit and balance for a holiday(Cosmos actually) and then you transfer that card balance onto a 0% card do I lose any protection that the initial card offered or is the liability/protection transferred to the new card?

    Thanks.
