Hi - I'm after some advice regarding the Barclaycard 24 month deal.
I already hold a Barclaycard Platinum account and, as an existing customer, the only offer on my account is for 9 months.
The website states that the 24 month offer is for new customers only.
I phoned customer services who confirmed the 24 month deal was for new customers only, but could offer me a 1 year deal instead.
Surely they can do better than this?
I'm aggrieved to cancel and reapply though, as I have a favourable 11.9% APR on normal balances.
Any ideas what I can do to grab this deal?0 -

Hi newleaf, I applied online and got the same 'few days to decide' message as you did, which also stated that any BT's would need to be done over the phone when the account was activated.
I have transferred a balance from an Egg card without any problems, I guess Barclays still consider them to be a different bank for now.
I did have a major issue with my application though, I had clicked on the 24 month link, but when the T&C's came up, it stated that I was applying for 20 months at 0%. I immediately checked with one of their live online advisors, and he said, "no, it's fine, it's just because it's a new offer and they haven't updated them yet".
So I was accepted for the card after a few days delay, and when I rang to do my balance transfers, guess what?! "sorry mrs bb, you've applied for the 20 month offer at 3.2% fee, and there's nothing we can do to change the terms now that the account has been opened" !!
I was furious! But very calm and polite on the phone. I was going to just cancel the card, because the deal was just not right, and after various advisers and managers and hassle, they agreed to refund the BT fee
So I have 0% for 20 months with no fee. :-)
With the size of my BT's, I think the 24 months at 2.8% would have been a slightly better deal financially, but I was never going to get that unless I cancelled and reapplied, with no guarantee of acceptance, and somehow no fee feels much better anyway :-)0 -
bethyblue612 - have you checked your account online? I was initially charged 3.2% bt fee, but was then refunded the difference bringing it to 2.8%.
The bt section online still says this though:
Interest rate0% for 24 monthsTransfer fee3.20% or a minimum of £0.00
- Also, how long does it take to complete a bt? I am transferring from mint to barclaycard, it is showing on my barclaycard but hasn't gone through on mint yet.0 -
Hi Liam, my problem wasn't the size of the fee so much as the fact that I'd applied for the 24 month card, queried with an advisor why my T&C's said 20 months and been told 'the website is out date, you can change it when you activate the card' which was totally wrong!
They told me up to eight working days for the transfers to go through.0 -
Hi,
a little while ago I read on here about a balance transfer deal that you could apply for without it showing on your credit score.
I need to get a new balance transfer, but in the past have been declined for some, and dont want that to happen again and show on my credit file, so am trying to find the one which i can apply to and not have show up on my file.
Can anyone tell me what it was or point me in the right directtion as I can't find it..
thanks!0 -
I was on the Barclaycard website earlier, and they have a link to see what credit card you might be accepted for without it affecting your credit file. I think that might be what you are looking for?0

Hi,
Newbie to the forum, can anyone help with my question?
I recently purchased a conservatory on finance through Barclays partner finance scheme, we have already made 2 payments to reduce the amount outstanding, but I would like to repay the whole amount because of the high interest rates, but dont have any more free cash.
I was wondering if there is anyway I could make use of the latest credit card 0% offers to transfer the debt. I currently do not have a credit card although have had in the past, so I cant borrow cash and transfer the balance to a new card. I know some cards offer 0% on spending, would this payoff to the finance company be classed as a purchase to qualify for the 0% offers on the cards offering the deals on purchasing/spending. If this is the case can anyone recommend a card deal available at the moment.

Cancel and wait 6 monhts. The only way. I have just had to do this and now wait 6 months for the deal to have probably gone.0
