The Lloyds* Platinum card gives 0% for 14 months on shifted debts with a 3% fee, however apply and transfer over £1,500 before 30 June and it'll refund half of the fee, slashing it to just 1.5%.

Sounds all well and good doesn't it...?!

Well when you apply you type in what you want to transfer and from what account. For instance I wanted to transfer £1900.

I got a letter through the post saying they accepted me but couldn't transfer the money, I called to activate the card and asked why..?

Its all over the website transfer over £1500 and its only 1.5% fee, yet they gave me a credit limit of £1500.....Therefore I cannot transfer the £1900 or even £1500 as you need to keep a minimum of 5% on the card available therefore the max you can put on the card is £1425. Therefore you missing out on this amazing offer.

I asked could they up my credit limit but they will not do it for 6 months. Therefore I still lose this offer as your balance transfer needs to be done within 90days of account opening. 3 months short.

Now I would say that Llyods TSB are scam artists.

    Please comment!!! Any advice Martin.....?!

Thanks, Do you have a link to apply online?
  • Hi
I'm new here and after a bit of balance transfer advice. I have a couple of cc's - EGG and Virgin with outstanding balances which have reached or are reaching the end of the introductory 0% period.

There is currently an offer of 3.9% pa for new balance transfer on the EGG card, and 0.9% pa for a new balance transfer on the Virgin card.

Should I attempt to shuffle this debt between the cards, thus avoiding the hassle of applying for a new card, or should I just apply for a new card?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Cheers

Just go straight to LloydsTSB website and apply for the Platinum card. :)

I have to say I'm impressed so far; From applying one week ago, my card arrived today, and when I called Lloyds to activate it, I was told that my balance transfer was done and dusted, and to expect my 50% refund of transfer fees in the next week. Easy peasy!

  • Hi, I have a barclaycard which has about £4000 on it and I pay £100 per month which is only just above the minimum payment. I also have another card with £900 on it and the 0% has just finshed. I am thinking of transferring the £900 onto barclaycard as I can have a reduced rate of 6.9% on balance transfers. At present I pay about £40 per month on the £900 but this is minimum payment. Would it be worth transferring the balance over or should I leave it where it is.
I have bad credit so cannot get loans to consolidate which would be my preference.:j

    Help and advice needed, please!

I've got debts totaling £12,700 over four credit cards, each card charging between 16.9-19.9% APR. I can cover the minimum monthly repayments without a problem and usually have £300 - £900 per month to put towards reducing the debt.

I want to get as much as I can of the debt onto a 0% deal so that I can stop it growing while I pay it down as much as possible. My problem is that I doubt any one card is going to offer me a high enough credit limit to cover the whole £12.7K. The highest single credit limit I currently have is just over £7,500.

My main current account is with Nationwide. I have a N'wide credit card on which I owe just over £500: this is the smallest of the four debts and also the card charging the highest interest rate.

I also have an Egg card and an Amazon (Bank of America) card, on which I owe around £5K each and the rest is on a Post Office card. If at all possible, I'd like to continue using the Amazon card for spending because we find the Amazon reward vouchers very useful.

Finally I have an unused Capital One card (£0 balance), which used to be my main spending card until they made me cross about something and I wound it down.

What would you recommend I do? I'm conscious that the best 0% deals out there are Barclaycard, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to transfer the Egg card debt to that any more since I think B'card has just taken over Egg credit cards?

I'm thinking BT the N'wide, PO and Amazon debts to a B'card deal if they'll have me, and BT the Egg debt to Virgin? Do I need to close the Cap One card too?

    Hi,

Sorry, probably the question was answered before but I am new to the area. Basically my question is I have a HSBC credit card and if I apply to a 0% Barclaycard and transfer all my balance will I still be able to use the HSBC one if I need it? So does it mean my HSBC will be paid off fully and I potentially could use the full credit amount while paying off the new Barclaycard?

    Thanks
