Are Virgin and Santander operated by the same company?

MBNA used to do abbey cards but if it,s santander branded its not the same as virgin.

  • Please where can I find out which cards are operated by which provider?
I want to balance transfer from a Sainsburys card to a 0% card elsewhere but I can't find out who operates Sainsbury's credit cards or who operates all of the cards which are top of the best balance transfer cards on all the comparison sites.
I don't want to apply and then not be able to transfer my balance if the new card is operated by the same Bank.

  • Thankyou so much!
  • hi was wondering if anyone could give me any advice trying to cut my debt costs down as within the next few months im moving in with my girlfriend and were having a baby in october so need all the cash i can get at the moment :)

At the present time i have a 3000 pound balance (left) on a loan of 3000 taken out september 2010 with hsbc and just over 3200 credit card balance also with hsbc, before i could manage this no problem but with my circumstances changing so quickly over the last 12 months it starting to become a worry, as im probably gonna need to borrow or get other credit with the moving home and baby on the way.
  • The Lloyds* Platinum card gives 0% for 14 months on shifted debts with a 3% fee, however apply and transfer over £1,500 before 30 June and it'll refund half of the fee, slashing it to just 1.5%.

Sounds all well and good doesn't it...?!

Well when you apply you type in what you want to transfer and from what account. For instance I wanted to transfer £1900.

I got a letter through the post saying they accepted me but couldn't transfer the money, I called to activate the card and asked why..?

Its all over the website transfer over £1500 and its only 1.5% fee, yet they gave me a credit limit of £1500.....Therefore I cannot transfer the £1900 or even £1500 as you need to keep a minimum of 5% on the card available therefore the max you can put on the card is £1425. Therefore you missing out on this amazing offer.

I asked could they up my credit limit but they will not do it for 6 months. Therefore I still lose this offer as your balance transfer needs to be done within 90days of account opening. 3 months short.

Now I would say that Llyods TSB are scam artists.

    Please comment!!! Any advice Martin.....?!

got a good one on virgin; £1200 transfer for £45 quid (approx) 12 months 0% :) - i'm not sure if this extends to near customers (I had been with them for a year or two and had nearly cleared a balance)

Not a good idea, IMO. You would extend the 0% period on your first balance by 3-4 months at most and you could incur two balance transfer fees in the process.

If you mean, transfer the balance on card one to a new card (let's call this card three) next month, then transfer the balance on card two, when the interest free period runs out in July, to card number four then, yes. This would produce the longest 0% periods in which to pay off your balances ;)
Thank you Guys. it helped me BIG TIME:money:

It's very easy to do what you want and get the reduced fee:
    1) Balance Transfer £1425
    2) pay off £100 straight away
    3) Balance Transfer £75
All before 30th June. Job done
