To maximise the 0% period, 15 months is available to new customers from Virgin. There's a 2.98% BT fee.

ah ok thanks for that info. And are there any hidden extras i should be aware of, or is this gernerally a decent enough card?

Currently, the longest 0% period available is 6 months. The Virgin Atlantic, John Lewis and Debenhams cards offer 0% BTs for 6 months, fees capped at £50 ;)[/quote]

I can't find this deal, the virgin atlantic is 2% fee

Capped at 50.00 is a great deal for me, but i don't see where this is offered? Any help please

The Egg card is one of those rather special cards which allows you to transfer an overdraft to them, in other words, transfer cash from the credit card to your current account at balance transfer rates.

This sounds as though it might be helpful for DH&I right now. I have had a look at the Egg card info but can't see any mention of this. Could anyone point me in the direction of further info?

    Thanks

Hi I am looking for some advice about my credit card - I have £9,500 (ouch!) outstanding with HSBC. I want to knuckle down and pay it off rather than just paying slightly more than the minimum each month. I have thought about balance transfers to other cards but not sure how it will work - don't want to apply for one in case I get turned down, but then I need to apply in order to find out how much credit on the new card I have to transfer the balance to if that makes sense? I applied for a Marks and Spencer one over a year ago, but lost the forms and when I reapplied they turned me down - not sure why this was. Really could do with some advice about the best cards out there, or if my amount is too high to be considered. I know it is harder to get credit now so really hope I am not too late. Also - Is there a free way to check your credit report as on Experian it asked me for my card details when I enquired about their free trial. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Kate

By the way - nor sure if my bit above should be a new thread or a reply to a post or what - sorry if it is in the wrong place! Kate

Marks & Spencer cards are underwritten by HSBC. This may have been a factor.

Which credit cards do you have - besides HSBC - at the mo?

Although card providers ask how much you want to transfer when you apply ie before you know their limit, you don't have to accept then. You get another chance if/when you get accepted.

But maybe that wasn't your problem.
