Has anyone got an ICICI Credit Card? This is my last opportunity to transfer a balance without a fee (already used Ulster Bank and Capital One). It's only a 3 month 0% offer, it's an Indian bank that doesn't adhere to the UK banking code and there seems to be a lot of complaints about its customer service (mainly savings related). Any bad experiences credit card wise?
I have no experience of this lender personally, but some MSEs have reported extreme inefficiency in processing applications and a balance transfer (minimum 6 weeks, sometimes longer) Many have encountered difficulties transferring the remaining balance to another
card as well.
Have you considered credit cards with capped fees? This would save you money on balances of £2500 plus.
Currently, the longest 0% period available is 6 months. The Virgin Atlantic, John Lewis and Debenhams cards offer 0% BTs for 6 months, fees capped at £50People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Any point in applying for a Virgin Atlantic card when I already have a Virgin card? I'm not talking about BT's between the two. However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0

Is a 6 month 0% bt with £50 capped fee worth it? is it not better to go for a 12 month bt with higher fee?0

Depends on the size of the balance shifted. With most BT fees in the 2.5-3% range, it's probably not worth the trouble for a balance of less than £2500. Move anything over and above that though and you start to save on feesPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

I would think you need to close down your existing Virgin/MBNA card first. This may be feasible as MBNA is one of the few lenders that accepts applications from former customers a month or so after closure.
Btw, I've held two or three brands of MBNA cards at the same time and, although you couldn't transfer balances, the bank was prepared to move credit limits between them. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to cards of the same brand.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Hi
thanks for your replies , I applied for an egg card and its been put on hold for security reasons , I know they have checked with Equifax on my husbands file - he is on the CIFAS list as he has had internet fraud and identity theft over the last few months. Hubby has had cards with virgin and mbna in the past so didn't even look at them.Lucky all the fraud has been on cataloges and mobile phones not on our bank account or credit cards
So i will know hopefully later in the week if i have been accepted.
Thanks again

So do i sign up with barclays, then what?

Barclaycard currently turns away some 50% of applicants and credit limits tend to be low.
I would advise anyone considering this card to have a read through this thread (which was only started on 6 January 2008 btw), before you apply. You will see that Barclaycard figures quite prominently and not always for the right reasons.
Which other cards - besides RBOS - do you have at the mo?People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

To maximise the 0% period, 15 months is available to new customers from Virgin. There's a 2.98% BT fee.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
