I used to have a Barclaycard but closed it approx 9 months ago.

Is there any point applying to Barclaycard again??.

I also noticed RBS have a good 0% rate. Anyone any idea what there approval rate is and average credit limit?.

Oh and I also have a Post Office Credit card, Limit £4000 - Balance Nil. They don't have any good BT offers, so would you suggest that I close it before applying for a new card?

Yes, Barclaycard you can apply as a new customer after 6 months. http://www.stoozing.com/cards.php

RBS have always been decent with me - no such thing as average credit limit - depends on your credit score.

PO card - will take up to 2 months before the closure is reported on your credit report.

What to do with MBNA £9000 on 0% till next month, and Virgin card £2600 on 6.9% for life of balance.

Am obviously hoping to get a 0% deal if possible, but the best deal available failing that.

OH has a Barclaycard, and might be able to apply for a new card, but I can't, and due to years of tarting balances I have Halifax, Marbles, Santander cards all with nothing on.

    Can anyone advise please.

Phone Halifax, Marbles and Santander and see what offers, if any, are available to you from them.

Wanted to get a Tesco card for points onloy, currently using a Natwest card and paying off each month. Got rejected.
Checked my file at Experian....it says i am wonderful....but doesnt show my MBNA cards????
Was considering going for a virgin card for when the 0% runs out....who covers there banking? Is it MBNA? Is it worth applying for it if it is them that covers ther card?

    Virgin is underwritten by MBNA
  • Hiya folks,

Just wanted to do a bit of juggling -I've got a few options and will be fine but can't find the table of companies that are underwritten by others, which I found so useful on here last year. Does anyone have a link to it again please?

    Cheers:beer:

    Hi All,

I have 2 credit cards and 1 overdraft.

As you can see from my signature, the 1st target (Virgin CC) is nearly clear. I intend to clear this when I next get paid. Now, I know that Virgin are likely to offer a 0% deal, but just wondered if it was worth asking about now?

Also, the other card is with Halifax, so they are both MBNA and I've seen on the Virgin site, that they won't do transfers between 2 MBNA cards. So....is it possible to do a balance transfer for my overdraft? It's not as expensive as the CC, but at least it would be cleared and I wouldn't be fearing them closing the account.

FYI, I now live abroad and so new credit is not an option for me (nor do I want it). This is also why I am fearful about Halfiax closing my account - it used to receive my salary, now it receives between 500 and 600 GBP monthly (on average).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

It's worth asking and also asking what might be available once you've cleared it. When I paid off a large chunk with a balance transfer last year they phoned me with an offer and then kept the offer open until after I'd cleared the rest of the balance. From a Virgin or other MBNA card you can do a balance transfer from your current account to clear an overdraft. They charge a bit more for it.

If you have two UK bank accounts or any other account that can do BACS transfers you can set up a series of standing orders to increase the amount of money going into and out of the Halifax account. Transfer from account A to account B then back to A. Or better from A to B to C and back from C to A so it's less obvious to a human.
