I'm just reading about stoozing for the first time. When you do a balance transfer and put the money into a high interest account/Isa, do you just make the minimum monthly payments until the interest free period is up then pay the card off in full?0

That's right. The sub-board *Stoozing: Free Cash from Credit Cards* explores the subject in detailPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Yes, 13 months at 0% is currently available to new customers from Halifax on balance transfers made in the first 90 days. There's a 3% BT fee.
IME, and from feedback here, credit limits are generous and the minimum monthly payment is just 1% of the balance shifted

Alternatively, 0% until 1 July 2010 is available from Egg. A 3% BT fee applies.

If you decide to chance your arm with Santander, it's advisable to apply in branch. Online applications are still subject to long delays, apparently
Cheers BIG TIME, Moggles - just been accepted for a Halifax card, and that should get me through the Summer and out of trouble now......thank you VERY VERY much for your advice - I might not even need to apply for the Egg card, but still wondering whether to as this will wipe a lot more of the nasty interest rates off for now.....0 -

While Martin recommends spacing out credit applications, there is an argument in favour of applying for two or three cards at once. If, for instance, you make 3 applications the same day, each lender sees only their competitors' credit checks. If you submit those same applications at intervals, providers not only see the credit checks, but also your available credit increasing with each successful application. So your credit rating could look temporarily worse after the third application, than if you had applied for them together.
The drawback with this strategy is that, assuming you're successful, your 0% promotions are likely to expire together, so I would keep this in mind when coming to a decisionPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Hi there
I need to BT from a partners HBOS card where the 0% deal has ended on to my Halifax card which has a low life of balance deal but ofcourse I cannot do this directly.
Can I transfer it first to my Virgin Card (which I am in the process of clearing because the 0% deal has also expired) and then from that to my Halifax card, ofcourse incurring two BT fees (but still worth it)?
Will Virgin have a problem with this?
many thanks

I've got a balance of £1650 on a Wolves Mastercard which I'm paying the minimum each month. I have green 0's throughout my credit file and up to date with everything else. I applied for a virgin card and got refused for balance transfer a couple of months ago. What is the general criteria for customers wanting to transfer balances...if there is any (ie CC needs to be paid off in full sometimes or has to run for x months before you can transfer balance etc...)
Also, what CC company seems to be accepting balance transfers more than others?
Thanks0
