    hi
sorry to trouble you i have just 1 question. if i apply to tesco for their card, would they consider me more because i do do all my shopping there aand have car and house ins with them.

    Just wondered?
I wouldn't have thought they check clubcard records for this sort of thing (though I guess you never know).
Insurances, however, may help your application, especially if you've always been a good customer and paid on time, etc. This would be particularly relevant if you pay your insurance monthly rather than in a lump sum.
  • Thank you for all of your help.

    lets see how it goes
Things will get better day by day.
  • Am I missing something, or is Abbey Zero now charging a 3% balance transfer fee just like most others, instead of the 0% suggested in the site's article? Any other suggestions for a no-fee deal?

I believe the Abbey Zero has been replaced by another card . This was alluded to in a recent posting up above .

0% for 9 months on BT's ( 3% fee) and 0% for purchases for 3 months according to the Abbey site for the new card .
  • HI FIRST TIME ON SO FORGIVE IF I'M IN THE WRONG AREA.
COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY I HAVE BEEN REFUSED BY TESCO, VIRGIN AND EGG TO TRANSFER A BALANCE OF £3100 FROM BARCLAYCARD. I HAVE APPLIED ON LINE FOR 0% ON BALANCE TRANFERS TO ALL THREE THROUGH U SWITCH. ALL THREE COULDN'T OFFER ME THE DEAL AND PROCEEDED TO OFFER ME A WORSE DEAL THAN I AM ON NOW.
I KNOW ABOUT THE CREDIT SCORING BUT MINE IS SEEN AS FAIR WITH NO MISS PAYMENTS CCJ'S ETC ETC WITH CREDIT EXPERT SCORING. THE ONLY THING I FOUND WAS THAT EVEN THOUGH I AM ON THE ELECTORAL ROLE ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL COUNCIL, CREDIT EXPERT SAY I AM NOT AND I HAVE ASKED THEM TO LOOK INTO THIS. COULD THIS BE THE ONLY REASON AS I AM ALREADY PAYING £70.00 A MONTH AND NEVER MISS A PAYMENT. HOW CAN YOU TRY TO HELP YOURSELF WHEN NOBODY GIVES THE CHANCE OR AM I BEING THICK.
    ANY RESPONSE MOST WELCOME.
    THANK YOU

The fact that you're not on the electoral roll at your current address (as far as Experian is concerned) certainly works against you. Lenders score us differently, but everyone's credit rating improves no end once registered.

For tips to improve your chances of credit card acceptance, have a look at the *Credit Rating: how it works and how to improve it guide*, especially Martin's *Manage and Improve your credit score* article ;)

Well you'll probably need to wait until Experian explain why you are not shown on Credit Expert as being on the ER . You could ask your local library to see the ER just to confirm to yourself that you are on it but that is the "public" version and you might have opted out of being on that ...only you know if you have .
