Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get one. It seems as if many of the extensions that are being given are to bring awards up to 6 years. Mine is also 6 years and I also haven't received an extension and don't expect to get one either.

Does the three weeks align the PIP end date to something significant connected with the start date of the award? I read at another board about someone getting a 5 day extension and another a 10 day extension and it aligned both awards to a 6 year period.

My award is for slightly over 6 years. The start date is the date the review was initiated (ie the date the AR was sent) and the end date is 6 years less one day from when the decision was made. As a result it actually works out as being 6 years, 2 months and 2 weeks. Needless to say, I've not been given an extension and I checked again yesterday to see if that had changed and it hadn't.

@Robbie64 No I don't think so, I didn't put down the date the last form came just the outcome 2021 awarded until 2027 reviewed after 17th March 2026 the date it's got to get back to them is 17th August

To quote paragraphs 2 and 3 (my bolding) :

The regulations introduce a new ground to supersede a PIP award so as to extend its length. The new
power comes into force on 02.06.26. It can be used from that date.

The new ground of supersession provides that the length of a fixed-term award of PIP may be
extended where the Secretary of State considers that this is necessary to safeguard the efficient
administration of PIP

Thank you for the link. Looks like it's been directly lifted from the legislation, and tells us little about how it's intended to be used in practice.

At the moment, is necessary to safeguard the efficient administration of PIP seems to mean there's no way DWP can currently reassess everyone before their award end date (resource limitation/backlog), so they will extend all awards to 6 years to give themselves some breathing space.

My PIP award was from April 2018 to April 2028.

Just downloaded my entitlement letter from the link given earlier in the thread and my award now says 'indefinite.'

Never had a letter through the post.

That sounds more like what they also call an on-going award, on paperwork they sent when awarded it gives does give a date in 10 years time that not to reassessed before then.

I definitely had an award from 2018 to 2028. Can't remember if it said it was an 'ongoing' award or not though? But the 'indefinite' wording is certainly new.
