Looks as though 'ongoing' awards have been changed to 'indefinite'' - which is just a terminology thing really but the will not be reviewed before date has been removed from the statement too, my date used to be about now from a 2016 award when pip replaced DLA. You can make an account and get an updated letter at this link brief faff to get it set up but with a passport it worked first time scanning the biometrics on a cheap android mobile

Did Statement of Entitlement letters ever contain details of the review date? I only see this on the original award letter, but I've never downloaded or looked at Statement of Entitlement letters before.
As you say, ongoing and indefinite mean the same thing. The original award letters (from 10 years ago) used the phrase 'for an ongoing period' whereas the Statement of Entitlement letters use the phrase 'for an indefinite period'. Maybe more recent award letters also use indefinite rather than ongoing (DWP tidying up their terminology)?

Thanks to the link posted on this thread, I logged on and speculatively checked my award by asking for a digital entitlement letter - turns out it’s been extended. I’m not close to SPA but do have very long-term conditions that may be described as practically lifelong. I’ve had no notification from the DWP and review forms arriving soon has been eating away at the back of my mind for some time causing me some nervousness. Great relief. I encourage others to check. Thank you to posters to the thread for informing us all!

Thank you for this link. I informally help support a young man with paperwork, bureaucracy and general “officialdom” since his mum died. The website in the link seems to indicate that the extensions only apply to over 25s. The young man I know turns 25 in December. His current PIP award runs out February 2026 (I.e. just after he turns 25). He has moderate learning difficulties, autism, diabetes and deformed & withered leg (nicest way I can put it) which are lifelong disabilities. He received review forms last week. As he’s got the review forms, is it fair to assume he’s highly unlikely to get a PIP extension?
After losing his dad & then his mum unexpectedly all within 3 months, If there’s anyone I know who deserves a bit of good luck, it’s this poor lad who’s got enough on his plate having to learn how to manage in the world alone with his learning problems. A PIP extension (if he got one) would take the pressure off no end.

Yes, if he has received the review forms, then he will have a review. Hope it goes well.

I think this may very well be the case.
Just checked partners award online and his too has been extended(no letter yet).
His was a 4 year award to 2029 now extended to 2031, which makes 6 year award. Plus he will be over SPA when claim needs to be renewed.
Congrats to everyone else who has also had an extended award.

Don't know. I've only ever had my original letter from 2016 and then the annual uprating

In 2024 (after my reassessment) I received both the decision & statement of entitlement. the SoE only gives a start date for an ongoing period.

I have a 6 year award I'm half way through. Checked proof of benefits and remains same award.. no extension.
