Hose pipe bans
I live in one of the areas that has just introduced a hosepipe ban! Typically the Water Company's FAQs are very ambiguous as to whether this applies to (micro) drip systems and come to that what constitutes such a system? Any idea what is the norm?
Apparently there is a seven day delay before the ban (which has started) becomes legally enforceable but they rather gloss over that too!

Given its essentially unenforceable, why the worry?

Large fines being applied sounds like enforcement to me.

You are bound to have a 'do gooder' type neighbour that will dob you in…..the world is full of busy bodies.

To be fair, when it is a shared resource, the neighbours are affected by it. The neighbour that complains about council rule violations that don't affect them are the ones I can't fathom.

18th floor of a tower block?
Believe Blue Badge holders (and those who are in receipt of certain benefits) are exempt.
Does anything exempt a house(hold) rather than an individual?

Affinity water sent me an email Thursday saying my water meter prices are going up(they started charging 1/04/26) by 12% for water and whatever Thames charge for sewage is also going up and then say how good they have been at reducing leaks and doing good for the environment.
Friday I get another email saying hose pipe ban starts 17/7/26.

Any smallholding or farm where crops or animals require a water supply is exempt.
(However, I've just fed our hens some half-melted frozen peas to cool them down. They wouldn't appreciate being sprayed with water! )
Never believe anything until it's officially denied.
