IAS is usually not worth bothering with, we just want to know what the IAS will say when it is pointed out that Excel did not offer the £20 admin fees as required by the Joint Code of Practice.

The IAS decision is not binding in you, so you still don't pay if they reject the appeal. ;)

This is how they try to weasel out of the £20 fee. From the CoP:

June 2024 The [Joint] Code is published

1st October 2024 All new sites must be compliant with the Code requirements relating to controlled land.

1st October 2024 All aspects of the Code must be complied with except signage orother related clauses applicable to existing sites.

01 October 2024 All new self-ticketers must be registered with their ATA.

01 October 2024 All reporting obligations in clause 17 must be complied with.

31 December 2026 All aspects of the Code must be complied with for all sites.

Assuming the site existed before the new code, Excel will try to claim that they can operate under the last IPC code which dies not have the £20 major keying error clause.

Of course we already know 95% of IAS decisions go against the consumer but I was advising you to do it, knowing that.

Yours is a specific point to appeal and should be a rare but easy win.

And if not, who cares? Nobidy pays!

So should I sent the Ias an appeal and ask them to overlook it? And just say there should be a keying error? Then if all goes well can pay the £20 and it’s done?

I’m going to write them an email today to send off hopefully they just validate the £20 major keying error rather than continue on this path… or is there a good boilerplate I can use for these pesky people?

You can understand to a point the timescale on for example; signage being updated, but the £20 fee is a simple policy change not something that needs resource thrown at it or any long term planning. They just use excuses in their normal conning, conniving, scamming greedy way!

well it’s no surprise…

A ticket was bought for an hour, albeit for the wrong car and left in 45 minutes…. Even with proof of this… The entire system in the UK is bonkers.

You aren't sending any emails.

Pleeeease run your draft IAS appeal past us first. You can't just bung something in asking them to 'overlook' it (whatever that means).

To whom this may concern,

I am appealing this ticket as my girlfriend mistakingly entered her reg into the machine instead of mine. 

I was under the impression under :

Popla | Keying error [Scenario 1] (can’t post links but it’s link of the page)

This would be a valid grant of appeal, not we are rejecting it and will charge you the full amount. Excel are utter vultures over a simple issue.

I will not be paying the full amount, ever.

Thoughts ?
