Logistics
I currently work in finance and am looking to move into transport planning for a logistics company. Is this a good job?

Why do you want to move into this role? What do you think you'll enjoy about it Vs your current job/industry?

What are the factors that make a good job for you?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.0 -
Doesn’t help that you haven’t said what you do now because working in finance could mean a multitude of things.
I would guess that as with most jobs the amount of stress depends on the company that you’re working for and the culture within it.

Why do you think a job in logistics will offer this?

"We have to get 60 orders out today with 5 drivers off sick or on leave, and one of the lorries is in the garage. Roadworks on the M25 mean 3 deliveries will take an extra 2 hours. Sort it, no pressure, just sort it."
Yes, different every day (apart from roadworks on the M25).

What makes you want to apply for this type of role? Do you know someone else who does it?
Planning is a mindset and not just a role IMHO - also things never go to plan 😏
Do you think logically? Can you look at the work and prioritise what will stay in plan and what can't? Do you think out of the box for solutions? Geographical knowledge of the area you will work in will help being efficient.
On the flip side - why did you go into finance? What is it that makes you want to leave the industry?
Planning isn't bad role but neither is finance…..there will always be pros & cons to all roles and the people you work with can also make or break a job.
All the best

You don't have to be the best -
Just be better than you were yesterday.2 -
Not to be too intrusive but age and qualifications, current and scope for upskilling, promotion, pay progression and long term goals would all be key considerations. Are you management level, aspiring, or at a lower grade?
What are your thoughts on AI as that is likely to have a significant impact upon all planning type roles going forward, do you grasp the concept and can see yourself exploiting it or hate it?
I would also consider the benefits, pensions, health care, leave etc, of your current employer and unless you have a particular employer in mind and know their package, those of the wider logistics market.

I had a post in international logistics - it is a high stress game.
