That was an epic trip out, grandmanerd. Well done you on taking control.

I think to day's focus will be getting some decluttering done. There's an empty bag just waiting to be filled!

The temperature here is more comfortable today, thank goodness. DD2, who lives 3 miles away, had heavy rain yesterday, probably less as the crow flies, but it didn't reach us here unfortunately.

I haven't done much today, just some odd bits and pieces. I think I am tired after being so hot at work yesterday - or that is my excuse anyway. I made a couscous salad with roasted veg for dinner (I could live on just that, but OH will want cold chicken with it). Used up various fridge gravel, a couple of home grown courgettes and a couple of peppers. Very cheap, but it costs a lot to buy in little tubs from the supermarket.

Gave the neighbor a cucumber as they seem to be reproducing in the fridge as well as proliferating on the cucumber plants - I cut 2 more today 😂

It is cool enough to go and do the watering now I think.

A cool and dull start this morning and I was out early doing the garden. Blackcurrants were staked (there are 3 small rubbish bags and a long pillow in my kitchen as DS3 claims he cannot take them to the bins as I have spikey plants which keep attacking him) and 2 more tubs that have green beans planted in them. More ex watering spikes went out and 3 assorted plastic bits that have had plants in them. Two huge dustpans worth of dirt/ rubbish/ broken pegs etc went in the bin bag which then went in the bin (not risking it splitting and all the stuff spilling all over the path again.

Two armfuls of comfrey from outside the back gate went in the green bin and I have 2 bags of weeds on the go. I did as much as possible sitting down. I have got most of my body moving but it's creaky and some bits are painful. The sky started to clear and it got hot about 11 am by which time my knees had definitely had enough. I came in and ate, spent the afterrnoon resting inbetween taking in deliveries - slow steps to the door shouting 'I'm coming' in case the drivers decided to go away again. I dozed but didn't go to sleep (I'm calling my late afternoon naps a siesta now. I hope to go out again but won't promise - it depends on what my knees want (if I don't overdo it, I may be able to repeat it tomorrow).

Read for most of the afternoon and have only recently turned on the laptop. Really enjoying the current book from the library discards - a le Carre like spy story set in Paris. I wouldn't buy more by the same author but will look out for them in cs. I have lamb kebabs for tea but am hoiping to add a tray of other stuff to cook at the same time, to be eaten cold or heated in the microwave for other meals. DS3 is being recalcetrant about which cage the animals should have, he doesn't know if he will be able to continue tidying at his current pace (3 small bags huh) let alone put a cage together.

I offered my new next door neighbours the use of my tools yesterday (secateurs, pruning saw, tree saw) to cut back the overhanging elder tree. I told them that all the new black drainpipes they have are because the elder tree pulled the old ones out. I was sitting outside as my taxi was due. However 2 young men have turned up this morning and cut down the lot. I think the newly sold furniture shop is going to be developed into flats like the block next to it which was done over the last 2 years. The young men have spent all week filling multiple skips with the interior of the shop. I don't think there are going to be windows pointing in our direction as we got plans delivered to our doors in case we had any objectings. In recent hot days I've become immune to the possibility of people seeing me naked on toilet visits in the middle of the night - I think I'd only be a pinkish blob as it's a very oblique angle.

I've just failed to lift my left ankle onto my right knee to put the support bandage on (nowhere near) so maybe a little more watering will be my limit.

Grateful for milder weather (I've enough handicaps without it being too hot to breathe), easy food, a great book from a new to me author and puzzles.
