Still hot, although we had a little bit of drizzle this morning for about 10 minutes, still terribly dry. I have been baking to use up various fridge bits - I made a sponge cake filled with whipped cream and strawberries and a quiche to use up various bits of posh cheese and several eggs. Took the cake with us this afternoon as we went to watch / help DD2 and her husband harvest their honey. We didn't take part in the stingy bit involving white suits and netted hats (though neither of the intrepid beekeepers got stung this time), just the messy kitchen bit. OH cut the caps off the honeycomb in the frames, DD then put the frames in the extractor and SiL operated it - it is ancient and the motor needs constant monitoring and fiddling with. The extractor is a centrifuge which spins fast and throws the honey to the side of the tub, a bit like an old fashioned spin dryer. It then runs down into a well underneath, from which it can be removed via a tap, strained and put in jars. The cappings are left in a warm place apparently to separate the wax from still more honey. Everyone had a taste - DD said that everything always gets sticky including the dog, and everyone feels sick after the process 😂 It was very interesting to watch. They don't have a professional set up at all, but they love their bees 😍 I took most of the cake I had made to share with them.

Despite the heat, we cooked a small roast for dinner for a change, but back to salad tomorrow with leftover cold meat. Time to do the watering now I think. I got rid of some sunflowers that had gone over, emptied the tin bath they were growing in and hung the plants up so that the seeds can dry for the birds. One less thing to water!

I think my talking therapy assessment went well. I was very worried before hand, especially since I could not find the questionnaire yesterday (finding the second phone seemed like an achievement). So once it turned 9 am I phoned the admin number and was eventually put through to a very nice lady who resent the link to my email (last one went to my phone) and then stayed on the line until I checked that it had come through and then that the link worked for me. So I did the questions. We've decided I will join the CBT group rather than the one to one (18 month waiting list for 1-2-1). I think the group will be similar to my last group beause there are a lot of people with long-term conditions.

My knees still aren't co-operating so I thought i should have a catch up day, finishing off jobs I've started. I need to clear the bed because I want to take a sheet off and add it to the load in the washer. I didn't quite get that far but I put a lot of papers in a bag, discarded half of my PIP application (I don't think I need any of it but saved all my answers just in case). Later on I found the cardboard concertina file that DS3 had thrown down and have started to fill it. I have pulled everything out from the side of the bed and got the mattress back in place 9it's been cclimbing off the side all week)

I have written a 'to be continued' list and started to jot down things in the fridge that need to be used up.

Grateful to everyone who has taken part this month, for my mattress being back in position (should sleep well tonight) and the start I've made on another couple of jobs.

Yes, thank you for July KISS, grandmanerd. It's been fun!

One thing with doing a big shop and then falling ill and not eating much for a week, is that the only thing dh ran out of was milk!

Today I am grateful for feeling so much better, for knowing the back roads to the Dr and thus avoiding the roadworks, for a breeze and lower temperatures, for New Tricks streaming so we're not watching reruns with bits chopped out to fit in even more adverts, for my bed.
