You seem to be struggling. Maybe it's time to just hand it over to an expert? Maybe, mail it to your nephew, or take it into a repair shop.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?2 -
Free trial. No idea what it costs

Hi Susan
That's not the case. You don't have to pay for a free trial. There is no requirement to enter any payment details.
After fourteen days of usage of the full version, it reverts to a free version, with less features.
You can choose to do nothing or you can choose to pay to restore the full version. Nothing about which to worry.

Just run a scan with the Malwarebytes software if you can get to it. Might just clear up the issue.

I will do thar. The nephew I spoke about has retired at 50. and moved back to the UK
He worked for Microsoft for many years back and forward. He worked for Amazon..Worked for Nokia briefly at many years ago.
Be has got 27 patents. Microsoft retain them but he was financially rewarded well. When I say he worked for Microsoft and when he went elsewhere Microsoft always wanted him back. . He is very humble and I only know this from LinkedIn.
He is doing something totally different. Just completed a year drama course at Roysl Conservatoire of Scotland. He has been incredibly successful with anything be has been involved with. So it will be interesting to see where this leads.
He actually gave me this laptop..I dare not mention anything as it arrives at my door so I dont want to involve him. I do feel incredibly stupid having now got more problems than what I started out with. Probably my age has something to do it
I am so grateful to all of you who have advised me on this forum
Thanks to all of you.

Incident he writes to me almost every day. I message him back..His mum and I are very close and he appreciates this.
He is very generous to me. Like Christmas hamper from F&M or Harrods. Flowers for Birthdays etc.
BUT I just feel so stupid right now Saying that I could barely use the laptop due to the excessive pop ups .. Sue

I think that this is a great idea.

I took my laptop to a shop where they looked at it. He has disabled the pop ups. I was not able to get on to my email address or Facebook either. He reset the new passwords for me. He said to try and see how I get along over the weekend. For the most part I can get in to my accounts. BUT when I try to get on the AOL I have to click a few different pages that come up before I get straight on to the site. If I try to click log on it asks me for my email address or my phone no but it won't accept this.

That’s a good result. I hope it wasn’t too expensive.
